On St. Patricks day my dealer called and said he just received 5 allocations so he placed my order in. One month later on 4 /12 I was checking email while I was vacationing in So America and my dealer emails me to let me know that I am now scheduled for production. As of today, 4/21 I am still scheduled for production. I called MINI and they told me my car will be a May build with production date unknown. BTW my dealer told me there was a fire at the Harmon Kardon plant and some cars may be delayed a month (fortunately not mine). So it looks like after 2 months since the start of the process my May MINI will be in NJ in time for the summer!

MCS Convertible
Chili Red/Black Top/Black Bonnets
All 3 packages: Premium, Sport, Cold Weather
2 tone leatherette interior
Red painted dash (will look nice with chrome dials)
LSD
Rear Fog Lights

Name: Unknown. My last MINI (04 MCS) was named 'Willoughby'..

I can't find anything about the fire on the news feeds. Does anyone have a link to a news story?

RATTS...

Took off work early, got my insurance, was just about to go to the bank, and thought....

Maybe I should call my MA an double check before going to the dealer. "Oh yea, I was going to call you, the decal guy did not make it in today. Car will not be ready until Monday."

Oh well, probabally for the best anyway, the weather in Michigan has turned to complete @#$% anyway.

I am leaving for a week in Toronto, so the new pickup day is next Friday.

Well, I have waited four months, what's another week.

Welcome me back to the May thread.

Drove by the dealer (only 12 miles for me  ) and it was there!!!

Counted her fingers and toes, everything looks perfect!!!! I may be biased, BUT it's the best looking MINI I have ever seen. Just needs the roof graphic and she'll be ready to come home.

I'll be passing out virtual cigars soon!

Oh Happy Days (May)

Today I get an email from my dealer (Prestige) who told me my car will be built May 19, with arrival in June. ;( OK I got over it and called ASK-MINI to at least get the VIN.

They told me my MINI will be built on the 19TH WEEK OF 2005 (not 5/19). So it will be built the week of 5/9! Its possible to get it to NJ BEFORE Memorial Day Weekend! HOORAY!!!

I had plans to go to Montreal Memorial Day weekend. I'm totally stoked (OK, Im really a West Coast guy but I live in Jersey)...

Wish me good MINI production luck!

PS MINIUSA still has me on Order Received!

On the Madame Butterfly!

Add me to the list of May deliveries! My PS/B MCSa is now on the Madame Butterfly, due in Charleston on May 7th. It's going to be a tough few weeks waiting, but at least I know that my car is built and on its way!

Tracking by Booking Number on 2wglobal.com, it looks like there are 170 MINI's headed for Charleston on this voyage. Given that number of cars arriving at once, does anyone have an idea of the turnaround we can expect from the VDC? Just curious.

How were you able to figure out that there were 170 cars on the ship?

For my first MINI, I waited 5 months before it arrived in NY and I was more anxious then. I still am, but I'm trying to calm myself. Calm. Calm. Dang it.. I want it before my trip back to Montreal!

Mine's on the same ship... the wait at Southampton was only 4 or 5 days so that part of the waiting wasn't too bad. I'm not sure if 170 cars is a big load for the VDC or not... with luck maybe we'll be some of the first ones off and go to the head of the queue.

I went to the Wallenius Wilhelmsen tracking page, selected Auto Cargo, and then entered my VIN. On the Cargo Status History page that came up, I found the Booking Number (GBSOU307479). Then, using the tracking page, I tracked by Booking Number.

Apparently all MINI's travelling to a port together are booked through the same booking number, because this brought up a list of 170 similarly VIN'd vehicles going to Charleston! I'm guessing there are a bunch going to New York too, but I don't have a booking number to track that group.

I hope the MINI's are enjoying their cruise!

I called ASKMINI and my car is now scheduled for production sometime next week (18th week of 2005 - 1st week of May). HOWEVER, no specific production date (yet). Odd..

Searched and found this thread

I thought I would copy my thread from 1st Gear and post it here since my car is a May 05 build.

Pure silver (top and mirrors)
All 4 packages
Automatic transmission :-)
Xenons, fogs and rear fog lamp
Center Arm Rest
Octagon Tartan Red seats
Silver dash with Chrome line interior
Navi
MSRP $29,120

Dealer accessories (some are still being disputed):
Aero Kit w/ magnetic bonnet and boot stripes I already have
Security System
Hands free phone kit (maybe get later but its in the price as of right now)
R99 wheels in Anthracite (gray in the 05 catalog)
And probaly pic up some wheel locks

Dealer qouted me $33,700 for all that installed.
Not bad I think for having a 3rd MINI from Tate MINI of Annapolis, MD.
Also I know I could probaly save some $ if I bought parts from Classic in OH but this way I pay as I go in the deal.

Update
I have my production number and a estimated date of build completion.
May 18th. So I guess I'm in the May build club
As for a car name. At work I am called Brain. So I think the custom tag will be "MSBrain".

Ahhh been 2 weeks waiting and I am already going crazy.

OMG I was saying all kinds of good things. After my last post I checked my MINI order status for the heck of it. "Awaiting transport"

I ordered the car back on April 19th. Ask MINI told me estimated build completion of May 18th. WOW!! Moving very fast!! Now I wanna know how to check what ship it will be traveling on????

I am in almost complete shock that my baby is coming faster then expected.

If you're on the east coast (or near, at least)...

Get your VIN from the Owner's Lounge, and enter it into the following website:

http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/cargoTrack.do

Click on "Auto Cargo" and enter your VIN. Easy as that!

I tried but its saying error. I bet it just hasn't made it into their system yet. I'll check back again tomorrow. But thank you for the link.

mdsbrain - It's possible that your vehicle isn't being transported by W&W. If it's on what they call "the K line", it won't be track-able on the link you have. It's just kinda one big mystery -- but at least it's not in Southampton anymore, right? Hang in there.

[If you search some other threads you'll see a way you can get a Bill of Lading number from your MA and use that to call the other shipping company to get a rough idea of schedule -- but it's nowhere near as convenient as the WW site.]
