March Build Madness - 2005

For some reason there doesn't seem to be a thread for March 2005 Builds. I've seen a couple of MINIs mentioned for March, but I haven't seen a thread, and I figure it's 'cause March folks are just too laid back.

So I want to remedy that.
'Cause it's MARCH 2005!!

Here's mine:
Classic MINI, Julie Saxa.
Build date, second week of March (next week!), 2005.
Jet Black/JB MC.
Stock Silver Holeys.
Cold Weather Package (no engine heater!!)
Chrono Pack (no ammeter!!)
Front & Rear Fog Lamps.
Octagon Cloth upholstery, Panther Black
Anthracite Interior (not headliner)
500 miles to the nearest dealer
I drive to Mentor the end of April, and drive the MINI (indirectly) back to Missoula.
I think the MINI will be NAMeLESS.
'LESS for short!

More March MINIs?

Finally a March build thread! :)

Here are my specs:

Ordered from MINI of Murray in SLC
MCS Jet Black/White (no bonnet stripes)
Sport Pkg. w/web spokes
Cold Weather, Premium, and Convenience packages
Panther Black leather
Anthracite interior surfaces and headliner
Chrome line interior
Rear Fog
LSD

Estimated completion date was 3/5. The current status is "Your vehicle was released to a carrier, and is awaiting transportation to the port of exit." So, it completed a day earlier than originally planned. Hopefully it'll be at Murray by the end of April/first week of May. It'll be a fun trip back!

No wonder! My understanding was that there are build threads and pick up threads. I'm not sure if I'm getting mine in late April or early May so I was a man without a thread for awhile...

Thanks! I like yours too and I almost went with all black. But since my current car is black I decided to go with something different and ordered the white roof.

I'd probably go the suspension route first as I plan to autocross and do some track time. Then eventually do the power mods.

Well, MINI Order Tracking says NAMeLESS MINI is now Awaiting Transport! So it got built a week early! I'm trying not to obsess over this, after all it's Just A Car, so I haven't phoned AskMINI or overly hounded my MA. I just want to know things are progressing. And I KNOW on-line Order Tracking is a little behind. So maybe 'LESS is already climbing on board a ship! No, not likely. Well, maybe. But no. Not quite yet. But soon. Very soon.

Sweet!

This is my second MINI Waiting Club! My MINI was completed on March 2nd and is awaiting transport now. This 6-8 week wait is much easier than my 5 month wait I had for my 03!

CR/CR S
LSD
All three packages
Aux input
Black bonnett stripes
S-Lites

I saw the JCW brake upgrade while I was there, and that may be my first mod! I wish I knew when it was going to be loaded on a boat, or when the next one leaves. Any one with any ideas?

I missed this site for the 4 months I've been gone!

One question. MINIUSA says my car is "awaiting transport", but talking to the dealer today, he said my car is due to dock in SC on the 18th. If that's the case, it would be on a boat now right? Any way to track the boats? I remember doing it before, but I've since forgotten. Thanks everyone!

Cooper44 - here is information on how to track your car, thanks to Chief_Charlie

With the VIN number you can start checking at the shipper's website for
when your car leaves the plant at Oxford for the train ride to the port
at Southampton, and gets loaded onto the ship with all the BMWs from
Germany for the trip "across the pond."

The shipper's website is
http://www.2wglobal.com/www/wep/index.jsp

Click on Cargo Tracking
Click on Track by "Auto Cargo"
Enter your car's VIN in the Cargo ID box and select "Track"

If your car has been booked into their system, then you'll see that, as
well as when it arrives at the port, and then gets loaded---depending
upon where it's at in the process.

You can check at MINI2.com under their FAQ section for other
information about the MINI production & tracking
process.............and
if you really want to know where the ship is at any moment, then
there's
iformation about going to the ship tracking sites, etc

Charlie
