R50/53 March Build Madness - 2005
It looks like NAMeLess and his buddies are having a good ride on Elektra. I hope he's having fun; I have to work
. My Owner's Lounge page still says Waiting for Transport. Oh well.
Has anyone have pictures of the VPC at Charleston? I've looked and found nothing, but there has to be stuff out there somewhere

Estimated Shipping Vessel
From the Department of Too Much Spare Time, this just in:
The Cargo Ship Torrens is scheduled to sail from Southampton on 3-19-05 (Saturday). Voyage # ED508-TR will port in CA on 4-12-05 at Port Hueneme (SoCal). That means Black Jack'll be in SLC around April 28, 2005. I could take delivery around the weekend of the 30th.
Who else's car'll be on this ship?

En route
FYI - Mine 3/6 production MC was loaded on 3/14 per ASKMINI and now reads "en route" but WW does not track on its VIN (red letter no information message) - Anyone else find other ships that are making the west coast run? Thxs! Scott, AZ
'Less and his buddies are only a few hundred miles of the east coast! Charlotte on the 24th.
I'm reading the Feb Build thread just to see what's going to happen next. Maybe my MA will take a few pictures when the car arrives at the dealer, just to tide me over 'til the end of April.

I finally get to join a build club!
Just thought I'd post and say "hello" to all the other March Motorers. After over 1.5 months of "Scheduled for Production", my MCSC finally went into production with an estimated completion date of Marth 30th. Looking forward to the ride and all the other craziness which goes along with production tracking.
Order Nightmare a reality!!!
So, I was wondering why when I logged into the owners lounge it said that my Chili Red MC was "scheduled for production" ...That seemed strange since I ordered a Hyper Blue MC.... So, i mentioned this to the dealer and...the nightmare became a reality...My order had been over written by another salesperson.
So, my salesperson, Jeremy Furlong, at Mini of Nashville was really helpful after he figured out what had happened. Since the car had already started production, it couldn't be edited. So, he edited a car that will be going into production in the next few days... No big deal...it will only delay things a few days..So, I am still a March build. i am just glad we figured it out now. I would have been a little nuts at the dealership...not that Chili Red isn't a nice color. It was my second choice.

"Murray" is on the NYK Capricorn Leader!
(Cross-posted from MINI2, for those that don't visit there):
News for Port Hueneme folks! (US West Coast)
Well I spent entirely too much effort to get this, and I will try to provide a method for others to follow-up on their own at the end, but I just confirmed that my MCS Ragtop, Murray (built March 16, 2005) is onboard the NYK Line ship Capricornus Leader. It departed from Southampton UK on Friday, March 18, and is scheduled to arrive at Port Hueneme, CA on April 13.
How did I get this?
1. When I called the automated "Vehicle Production Status" at ASK-MINI, it changed from "Awaiting vessel" (When I called on March 18) to "In Transit" (when I called on Saturday, March 19.)
2. My VIN was not recognized by the W&W shipping Auto Tracking web page.
3. I called my dealer (South Bay MINI, Torrance, CA) and asked if they had any info about it. They gave me the Bill Of Lading ("BOL") Number, but had no info about what shipping line or vessel it was on. (The BOL started out with the characters "NYKS", so I cut the gordian knot and deduced that the vessel is part of the NYK Line. Unfortunately, NYK don't easily (If at all...) provide this kind of info on the web, unless you're a registered customer, i.e. MINI!)
4. I called NYK's Customer Service number for the US: 1-888-NYK-SHIP (1-888-695-7447) and explained my situation and provided the BOL number. I was then informed that they only had info for container vessels at that number. FOrtunately, the person I talked with was kind enough to provide the contact number for RO/RO (Roll-on/Roll-Off) vessels: 1-310-618-6073 (Advisory: this may only be valid for West Coast vessels. The area code is that same as mine (!) and I live in San Pedro, CA - right next to the Port of Los Angeles - hundreds of miles from Port Heuneme.)
5. I called the RO/RO info number, explained my situation, gave them my BOL and was provided with the ship's name and estimated date of arrival.
For those also sailing on the Capricornus Leader, you can find a nice photo and vital info at:

I'd be happy to hear from any shipmates!

Only a potential MINI Owner Can Do This!
As Chief Wiggum might say, "That's some mighty fine sleuthing!"
Thanks, Dave. While I haven't yet followed the instructions you have so generously shared with us, I suspect that, as my car is "En Route," it is probably aboard this vessel, also.
I believe this all means that I'll be able to collect Black Jack in SLC right around April 30--stil 6 excruciating weeks away!

Anybody in Charleston with a Camera??
Tomorrow, the Elektra gets to Charleston!
Those of us whose little buddies are bound for Charleston and points west (?), it's time for them to disembark!
For the first time, NAMeLess will inhale US air!!
Hey, Charleston folk, do you have any photos of the VPC? ...maybe somebody'd hang around the docks and take a few pics of the new MINIs bouncing jauntily onto shore?!

But I'm in New York,
Ask Mini says my car will be coming off the boat tomorow the 28th. Dealer says a week after that to make it to San Diego
I think this week will be the worst of my two month wait. Each night I go to sleep not counting sheep, but counting break in miles. Yea Baby !
