My Mini is also apparently on the Capricornus Leader heading into Port Hueneme, CA on April 13th. Anyone have any luck tracking this ship? Would be cool to see daily status on where she be as she makes the journey from Southampton.

March Tracking

According to "askmini", mine was finished March 7, at the port the next day, and in-transit by the 12th. I haven't been able to track it by VIN or production number at WW's web site, but it must be on the Tristan. The Tristan left Southhampton on the 10th. The ships GPS reports stopped on the 17th near Canada. (I hope she didn't sink). The Tristan is scheduled to unload at Port Hueneme on April 1. Anyone else think their Mini is on the Tristan?

West Coast Delivery

Mine is a 3/6 build, 3/14 ship w/ an anticipated arrival (according to MA, who can't locate the BoL) of 4/10 (though that seems long). My guess is 4/2-4/4 for arrival but no info - so perhaps the Tristan (4/1), the C. Leader (4/13, so something in between? Scott

I have a hunch NAMeLess is schmoozing at Classic MINI at this very moment. It seems like time, and the Owners' Lounge won't let me track it any more. "Upload your own photos," it says. Maybe Julie'll send some pics.
10 days 'til I hit the road, Ann Arbor on the 15th, do some visiting, and Classic on the 19th. Really not long now.

The OL posted an estimated delivery date of 4/10! Classic will have it for a while before I actually take delivery of it.

Those March-Built MINIs ought to be showing up in droves now!

Here's my Jet Black MC, sandwiched between a couple of other beauties at Classic:

I pick it up in 2 weeks, then a 2300 mile get-acquainted ride home

No airplanes for me; I'm driving out, will leave my pickup with my son in Ann Arbor & drive the MINI back from Mentor with a KC detour. Probably be home by the 26th.

It's very soon !

Brecht Mini say my MCS was unloaded today and I may get the car by the end of the week.

I have to drive from San Diego to San Francisco on Saturday (~1000 miles round trip). If the Mini's in, I would love to take it, but I worry that it's a bad break in trip. Not much chance to change speed on I-5.

My bike is a nice ride and I love it, so either way will be nice.

What would you do?

Richard

I'm in NorCal, and I'll be going to Salt Lake City to get mine. I plan to make the 750 mile trip. The very first thing I'm going to do, however, is a lot of buzzing around the streets of SLC, accelarating hard, AND doing some engine breaking. Loading a brand-new engine, I believe, is pretty important. (Uh-oh, I may have just touched off something big . . .). While I won't treat the the 4,500 rpm line as the Fruit of the Tree of Knowlege of Good and Bad, I won't do any redlining.

The interstate driving will be the trickiest part. I think that I'll be doing a lot of shifting between 5th and 6th. Fortunately, I won't have cruise control, so I'll be varying speeds as a matter of course. But I'm pretty confident that things'll work out just fine . . . My $.02

I do believe I'd try to find another route. (Of course, the thought of a drive from San Diego to San Francisco makes me cringe, but I'm sure that's all just fear based on false preconceived notions)

MINI @ Dealership

My MA sent a few photos. Here is my MCSa at Classic. This makes the wait even harder to bear.

Well, it looks like Black Jack is on the Capricornus Leader (along with Amoeba's). It's scheduled to port at Hueneme on April 17. Anyone else?

I'm an April build, but thinking I am on the Cap... Leader tug boat also; at least I hope so because this wait is killing me!

FYI: There is a thread in the MINI Owners Lounge, a bunch of us trying to find out information.

How long does it take for them to make your Mini?

The dealer always says 6-8 weeks but from some of the posts it seems it only takes a month.. Or nevermind, 8 weeks i just 2 months when I think about it, lol. Eight weeks sounds so much longer than two months!

I'm thinking of placing an order tomorrow if my local Mini dealer gives me a bad qoute on their 1.5k marked up Mini S automatic that I'll be checking out in the morning. The pro to ordering is that I can get my seat warmers which are very important and daker headliner to better match red seats with red interior.

What is this breaking in period though? I read alot of posts speaking of this break in period up until 1.2k miles... How exactly does the breaking in work and what does it mean? Also, are there any penalities to not following the break-in guidelines? =/
