My last name is starts with Eg (egg) so a lot of my nicknames are played off of that.
So the car is known as.... Hammond Eg... (Ham-and-Eg)

I have a 1977 Black Corvette with the best car name ever...
She's a **** star (She likes it rough

) and she's a black beauty, so I called her "Ebony." I have girlfriends who say it sounds degrading, so I love it But to get back to MINIs, my CR/B S is "Red Sonja" or just "Sonja"

I thought the idea of a terribly strong woman capable of decapitating and dismembering stronger looking warrior cars (my friend's 400hp EVO for example) was pretty cool.
OH, I used to call her "Little Bastard" after THIS car

But I have a very sexual relationship with my cars and I wasn't comfortable with my hot little lover being a "bastard"
My Cooper is named Yomiko. After Yomiko Readman from the Japanese animated series Read or Die. Yomiko, otherwise known as Agent Paper, is a nerdy looking girl that looks all innocent and simple, until provoked where she is extremely dangerous.
I thought it fit, and I like Japanese anime a whole lot. We all have our obsessions.

wow... I think I am in love with RCristiano's vette... WOW!
I am leaning towards naming my little girl Samantha (after Kim Cattrall's character in Sex and the City) because she will look sweet and innocent... but we know all the boys are will want her.... (thats the g-rated version haha)

Another one of LombardStreet's rambling posts...
I pulled into the driveway tonight, gave Tillie a pat on her hump, and said, "Way to go, Roller Skate!"
Which took me back to...
The Fall of 1968. My best friend from high school and I are driving across the country on Route 66 in my Spitfire, from St. Louis, Missouri, to California, where we are both starting college. Ah, freedom! Ah, college! Ah, California!
We spent our first night in Oklahoma City with some friends and then decided to make the rest of the trip in two days. We stopped somewhere in New Mexico around noon, got a day rate on a room, and set off for Los Angeles late that afternoon.
Now it's some time in the wee hours of the morning, and John is driving. I see the California agricultural inspection station up ahead. We get closer and closer, and I realize John isn't slowing down. I think he might be half asleep.
"Hey, John. You're supposed to stop!" He snaps out of his daze and hits the brakes. We come sliding sideways into the inspection station. A kid who can't be any older than the two of us comes bopping out of the booth in his little uniform and says, "Whaddya say, Roller Skate? You guys got any fruits, vegetables, or marijuana?"
"No!" John says.
"Then get out of my district. Do ya need a map?"
"No!" John says as he jams the car into first and takes off. We get a few hundred yards into California, and John looks over at me and asks, "Did he just say what I think he said?"
I swear - that was the exchange, word for word! It's burned into my memory cells, one of the more vivid recollections of my past.
Anyway, I've owned lots of sports cars since then, but none of them ever really seemed worthy of the name "Roller Skate." Until this one.

My mom actually named my cooper. I was trying to explain where the airbags were in the car and she made a comment that if the airbags went off that she would bounce around like a ping pong ball. Now everyone in the family refers to my mini as ping pong.
Hi, new to the MINI world, but quite acquainted with the bimmer world.
My 92 325i is named Tiana (she got rear-ended pretty badly, that's what lead to the mini). While in high school, my roommate (international boarding school) said the name Tiana paints the picture in his mind of a hot latino chica dancing on the beach. So, the name went for the bimmer.
While I was on my way to pick up the new Mini, I was thinking of a name, and Nisha came into mind. It's an Indian name and reminds me of this feisty underclassmen who was hot as hell and great fun to be around. BTW, Nisha's a 02 MC, IB/W.
Oh and my bike is named Trisha, after another hot South-Indian actress. She's a 91 Suzuki GS500.

How many of you named a loaner???
... we did !! Actually my husband (the one who wasn't into the Mini 'til he got one) named the Mini C loaner w/o thinking about it: It just came out naturally... She is pepper white therefore "Pepperina" and we call her by her name ... " I must stop to fuel Pepperina." Did you leave th cell in Pepperina?" and so on... of course, I miss my little "Streghina "
MD STREGA2
driving "Pepperina" the loaner

My '03 EB/W is named Peanut 'cause she's small and endearing. She just told me her middle name last week - it's Eloise, after the mischievious 6-year-old in the books. It fits...

I named a CR/CR MC loaner once - his name was Norbert. Like lastrega said, it just came out naturally...

I named mine Dream... well cause she is my dream car. Plus I am a big fan of Neil Gaiman, and his comic books with Sandman... aka dream are very cool. So the name stuck, plus she is a dream to Drive :smile:
About a month after I got here I found out that Neil Gaiman actually drives a Cooper
So now he really is my favorite author

Cheers

As a fellow Pennsylvanian, I vote for Martin, hands down! That way you'd even have a cartoon caracter to go along with it!

When i picked up my BRG MCS in October '02, I named him GIR after the robot sidekick in Invader ZIM
http://www.nick.com/all_nick/tv_supersites/zim/
But in practice, He ends up being referred to as "Tha MINI" or, by my wife as "Da Baby." He is most definitely a Male car, though. All of my Motorcycles have been female (and named as such), but I feel insulted when anyone refers to GIR as "Her."

The ship that brought my MINI across the pond was called the Sirius Leader... I looked up Sirius and found it was the brightest star in the sky.
I thought that fit - he's the brightest star in my sky
When I went to order plates I had to add a letter cuz Sirius was already taken. I asked my friends and one said. "wouldn't he have the same last name as you?" (some friends get it!)
So here we are - I'm Linda V and he is Sirius V!!!
I never thought I would name a car but I also thought I was just buying a new car when I ordered my MINI and didn't realize I was joining a cult!
I'm in and it's just hopeless!!! LOL Glad to be here with others

I named my 2004 MINI Cooper "Trevor". It's the most British name I could think of and reminds me of a trip to London in 1993 when I was waiting to cross the street and one Bobbie said to another, "Right Trevor, stop the traffic!".
I also named a loaner MINI. Last year I got a MINI One loaner for the weekend while in Germany. I called him Günter the whole time.
