I love that! Sisters...
I didn't even think about the fact that Jason (yeah, that'd be the car) now has a brother... we brought him home just last weekend.
So far mine's been either My Car as in "should we take My Car or yours?" or The MINI as in "that will never fit in The MINI". Didn't know if a name would ever come to me, but last night I was struck with Sparky. It is Electric Blue after all. Like it or does it sound too much like every Dalmation on earth?
I can't decide.
Here in PA we have 6 years to officially name a child
Here are my choices:
Myles
Martin (Purple Martin)
Victoria (purple is color of royalty)
Merlot (Wine)
Tinky Winky (Purple TeleTubby)
I am leaning towards Martin, but still undecided.

Here's one option..
Kage, as in Kagemusha, is Japanese for "shadow".
Kagemusha, by extension, is "Shadow Warrior".
Okage is literally "your shadow", but means "in your presence", as commonly used.
I'd look at other languages, as well. German is a possibility. Russian can be interesting. The basic term for a shadow, "ten'", doesn't do much for me, but there's some interesting terms for gloom and such, might be more evocative.
Of course, there's always "Knight Rider" :-) I can't believe I just typed that..

Claire. Though I dont think anyone knows thats her name...
My first car, a 1986 Volvo 760 wagon that I got during highschool had a name, thanks to my friends. It was ironically called "the Honey Wagon." I wish...

I have a Black on Black cabrio arriving soon and I'm playing with names, if any appeal to you by all means, it's yours. It will help narrow down for me:
Thames (after the London river, pronounced TEMS)
Caboose (after Red vs Blue, if anyone is familiar)
Moneypenny (my handle, but I'm willing to share it with my car as it is British)
Glock (the all black type of gun, figure this might appeal to you considering your suggestion of Gunner)
My first car was a VW Cabriolet, named it "Cabbie" (I wasn't very creative)
My current car is a '93 Saturn named K.I.T.T. 'cause it has a similar shape to the famous red scanning Knight Rider. Always loved naming cars!

I'm pretty sure I've seen a "Vader" on the MINI2 forums, but it may have been in the UK.
But looking at the picture James47 shows, I was struck by how much his black Mini looks like a big glossy bird. So-o-o-o...
How about "Raven"?
If you want to get cute with it, you could spell it: Ravin'
... though that probably rules out a vanity plate, since most states don't offer apostrophes).
And if you're looking for a British connection, consider these:
1. The Tower of London keeps a supply of ravens on the grounds because some long-ago seer said the Empire would last as long as the ravens stayed at the Tower.
2. In the recent hit book "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell" (written by a Brit), a powerful and mysterious character is "The Raven King".
Another possibility might be "Blackhawk" or if you've ever seen a certain long-running British historical comedy on TV, you might like the name of the main character -- "Blackadder".
Because your car is so well cleaned-up and overwhelmingly black, basing the name on its color makes sense to me.
My own MCS, just about to unload at New York, is pure silver with a black top, so the color doesn't suggest much to me name-wise, but I'm open to suggestions.
Good luck!

Right after I ordered my car, I had a dream in which I was driving her down a twisty road, humming "Waltzing Matilda" to myself. So that's her name: Waltzing Matilda.
But just as I've got lots of nicknames and terms of endearment for the other women in my life, my car has lots of names, too:
"Tillie" (this is what the family usually calls her)
"Jabberwock" (because her '05 exhaust burbles)
"Squirt" (for her handling)
...and...
"BLT" - short for "Brave Little Toaster," a name she acquired after driving through a blizzard in Utah, surrounded by huge semis!
