Bummer, but it dould have been worse...
I had a motorocycle accident in grad school. 9 months in a wheel chair. I'm fine now (except for my ever increasing belt size). There was a guy in the hospital with the same injuries, but he was to loose his leg...... A little perspecive never hurts.
What I learned is it can always be worse. I'm much happier thinking about the bad that didn't happen instead of the bad that did.
Not to say you're not going through a royal pain in the ***!
My wife was driving my Mini when someone mergend ino my driver side rear quarter panel, and drove off! Cheryl followed, called the CHP (who passed her and kept on going!), go thte guy to pull overr, where he took off agian. CHP wouldn't even track his licence plate! (Thanks for our budget woes CA, now law enforcement doens't have the resources to track a non-injury hit and run). Car down for a week, and we paid the deductible because the CHP wouldn't tell us who owned the car (nor return any calls etc.)
So I feel you pain, but there are much worse pains that your not feeling, believe me!

Watch out for car doors too.
I fortunately have no dents on the MINI, but I see people opening doors like there are no cars around. Hit the other car's door...no big deal from their perspective. People can be so inconsiderate

As far as the CHP not tracking down a license plate, I'm sure the insurance company will pursue it on your behalf. They will want to recover their money, and should recover your deductable for you as well!

Seems to me when the law enforcement of our country can't (read WON'T) do their job it is a sad day. I know how busy these people are as I worked in a police department for 19 years, sometimes they are overloaded and other times they are not (which is most of the time). So, you have to pay the deductible out of your pocket.

My wife and I came out of a resturant this morning only to hear a guy yelling at the lady who had just backed into his new 05 Lexus RX 300. Part of what he said that I can repeat is that his new vehicle was bought last night and only had nine miles on the clock
The lady was in a late model Ford 150 P/U and it appeared her bumper went over the top of the Lexus bumper and creased his back door. This guy was some kind of Pissed

Bummer....sorry to hear about this.....hopefully the body shop will do a great job fixing the MINI back up again and you'll be out motoring soon... Cars can be fixed, people can't - I guess it could have been a lot worse....Donna
