GOD .. I can't believe .. I think I'm the only person in the world stupid enough to forget to order my MC with the chrome bumper inserts. Now my MINI is sitting in my garage without the ***BLING ***BLING LOOK  JOKES !!

Anyways ... I'll have to get them seperately... does anyone know where else I can get the inserts other then in dealership ??

Oh yeah... who had experiences with Installing the inserts by themselves... can anyone give me some instructions ?? THANKS !!

Somewhere I remember seeing that these cannot be installed after market because the bumper for the chrome version is different from the one you got....it has slots necessary for the installation of the chrome pieces. :???:

I don't like the crome bumpers myself. But I think it depends on your color picks on your MC. I have the peper white with black top, the black bumpers looks awesome.

Believe it or not, you might get out of it cheaper by buying the whole bumper cover on ebay, such as in this auction.

This seller repeatedly auctions bumper covers, usually with a Buy It Now price of $50. They are typically very new because they were replaced with the aero kit version by the customer. Just watch his auctions until he has the color you need with the chrome inserts.

If I ever sustain significant bumper damage, this is the way I'll go.

You're not the only one- I did the same thing! I got to thinking that the MC came stock w/ the inserts, and when I checked and found out I had to order them, I was truly bummed, since it was too late to change my specs. I was even ready to reorder and put myself out another 4-6 months, but then my dealership came through and said they could install them for me before I took delivery. I was VERY grateful. Have you asked your dealership? It's a bit more expensive than ordering them in the first place. The other source it MINI Mania, which you have the link for in one of the above posts. Either way, chrome rules on my PS/B MC.

They can be installed afterwards. I did it because my Mini (euro spec) - salt version- didn´t come standard with them.

The OEM chrome insters cost $30 each of the fron ones and $70 the rear one. (In Mexico, but shouldn´t be much more /or less in the US)

Installation is not too difficult if you have the tools. The inserts just "clip" into the bumper cover, so you have to drill rectangular slots. The easiest way is by removing the bumper covers (an easy task) and then drilling the holes with a moto-tool or similar.

I did the stupid thing of letting the dealer install it and I got ripped off. They charged me over $200 dls for the installation.

I’m in the (exact) same boat, Ken. I was ALSO stupid enough to order a chili red MINI without the chrome inserts (except mine is not in my garage yet, but it should be by the end of the week!)

PLEASE let us know when MINI mania gets back to you about the install process. Is there anyone on this board with the aftermarket inserts on mini mania? Do they look as good as the factory inserts

Thanks!

There's a thread about this before, maybe someone handier with teh search function can find it, I coudln't. But there is a way to add the inserts to the stock (non-inserted) bumper. It required a little bit of extra work, but it is doable...

I forgot to order mine with the chrome bumpers as well. I didn't install the MINI Mania ones but I did buy a set from my dealer and installed them myself using a drill, some masking tape to mark the locations of the holes, a new utilty (X-acto) knife and some nerve. It took a lot of soul searching to take a drill to my MINI's bumpers but once that first hole was drilled, there was no going back.

It wasn't a difficult task exactly, but took concentration and patience... I ended up scratching my bumper which I'm sure will cost more to repair than if I'd just paid the dealer to install...
