EDIT: My mistake. I misread your question. You may want to see if you might be able to source automotive grade fabric if you have a local auto upholstery shop in your area.
I think there was a thread around that a member had posted a link to where they purchased their fabric online.
Sorry - I don't recall or couldn't find the exact discussion thread.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I haven't seen any replacement headliners on the market.
Although I have just come across an '04 R53 tin roof at a salvage yard that was in unusually perfect condition or looked as if it had just been redone and beautifully I might add.
You may want to find a local (auto) upholstery shop and get pricing to have them re-cover it with the proper grade fabric.
Like many other's here on NAM, I recovered my own. My headliner was easy to remove without detaching any pillars. It was a messy job removing the dried out factory foam like adhesive but afterwards it was pretty easy.
I used an off the shelf, pretty good, high grade adhesive spray and was mindful in laying down my fabric.
I'm happy to say my results turned out perfect = smooth, no wrinkles, air pockets, bumpiness and hasn't begun to sag 2wo years later.

Headliners becoming loose/sagging is a very common problem on these first gen cars as the glue just dries out and loses adhesiveness. I would think there have to be members that have purchased a replacement that is an exact fit for the R50/53...

7/2004+ got the anthracite (panther black) . https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_5670

I love the old anthracite headliners

I used to get fabric that was close at Jo anne fabric. Its close to the same but its padded and has a different twill. Headliner adhesive from 3M will be needed also. Its a job.

Thanks for the suggestions I'm gonna do the headliner for sure it is really getting on my nerves, plus give the interior a deep clean and install new shift and e-brake boots black with yellow stitching.

I redid mine and got the material off of eBay. It was darker than the OEM color but it looks good, It's a job for sure.

Odd that the headliners for LCI are back ordered indefinitely until they find a new vendor.

Yes, seeing a bunch from the older MINI on Back order. They had this in the past: https://www.motoringfile.com/2008/10...iner-shortage/

Here is the DIY

We carry most of the little pieces and covers which are linked above.

I pulled mine myself and had a local upholstery shop re-do it for $75.

YMMV, but the labor of the headliner removal is the expensive part.

I did mine over the span of a weekend. Again, hardest part was interior removal. I have a hardtop, so no messing about with sunroofs and such.

I bought some random fabric on amazon, because I wanted plaid headliner. Hardest part of it all is just getting the fabric to stick while you're working with it, trying to avoid creases or areas with gaps. Being patient helps.

I figure I'll probably do something a little wild when my headliner finally starts coming apart. If all goes to plan, by that time I will have built a headliner for my van, so I suspect the Mini will seem easy in comparison. Maybe. Hopefully. But probably not.

It's only really noticeable if you're looking for it. Otherwise, the windows are tinted so it doesn't stand out as much.

I frequently forget it's there.

I never would have thought plaid would look this good as a headliner.
I have to admit it is unusually awesome. Nice job!
Pretty cool @AngryScotsman
