Soooooo my GPS screen has some minor lcd bleed on the top of it , ITS TOO bright for me at night so it was usually off aaaaand I've completely removed the navigation cd thing from under the passenger seat so my GPS doesn't even turn on anymore..
what I'm wondering is caaaaaaan i swap it out for the gauges ???? I want to go from the top pic to the bottom pic..
is it plug n play or what is involved with this swthiif the swap is even possible..
@MiniManAdam , my kid and I did the pioneer double din CarPlay head unit swap. That was relatively simple.
All the other screen replacements appear to be custom like the link above.
I did come across this unit from Seicane. Looks like a complete unit to replace the nav. Not sure what happens with the fuel gauge at the bottom of the original nav.
cool but I'm not going to attempt that.....i thought about something like that but my electric skills arnt up to par.
if It wernt for the built in gas level sensor id do it BUT i have to maintain the ability to monitor my gas level..
Dammit mini you strike again...so it's pretty much impossible to do the swap . Sure it can be done , but then half your sensors don't function and dumby lights get lit so unfortunately looks like I'm stuck with a big stupid ugly unless screen... AWESOME DESIGNING ONCE again mini. God these things stock SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.
Funny , i HATE these cars stock..
Hook up something to it. Learn to use whats there. Not hard to either patch into the input or replace it with a tablet. Its just a video screen pretty simple stuff.
Put the drive back in and install the factory e46/38/39 Mk4 analog tv tuner. Add an HDTV OTA adapter to that and play moves and music vid off USB stick. or build a pi game system and run that thru it. Add a rear camera. The only limitation is the screen resolution and the Audio is mono. Anything you can adapt to composite video you can play on it.
