So yes you read it right I got 380cc fuel injectors from ebay for my mcs for $50. First of all I am planning on getting the bosch fuel injectors just have not yet decided on what size. If you guys can help me on that I'd appreciate it. Second of all I was just so curious lol, I really wanted to know how they would be and whether they would work or not so I said the hell with it and I got it. This was also bday money so that motivated me even more to buy it lol. So I installed it the other day and everything was going alright until I got to the part of reinstalling the injectors. I attached the injectors into my fuel rail, I put oil(the same oil as the engine oil) around the o-rings so that it can go into the engine easier but the weird thing was that it was not going in at all. I was watching this one guy replace his fuel injectors and it literally took him not even 3 seconds to fit all 4 injectors and mine were stuck which I thought was really weird. He used vaseline and of course I didn't have it at the time which is why I used oil instead. Anyway I kept trying to push it in and eventually I'd get one injector in but once I go to the next one the last injector I just fitted pops right out. Than I grabbed my hammer and I also got a towel to cushion each hit and I went directly on top of each injector and started lightly tapping but the same thing happened that one goes in and than another comes out which I regret doing because I ended up denting my fuel rail. Than I fitted all 4 injectors as firmly as I can with out any of them popping out and than I screwed the two bolts holding the fuel rail in place. I put all my hoses back, intercooler, and went to go start her up and she took like 2-3 cranks and she started right away. Which I was surprised. Gave her a couple revs and she sounded the exact same. I drove it around the block and I don't really feel anything different both power-wise and quality/funky-wise. So, I am at a point where I am scared to drive it but at the same time nothing weird is happening to the car.
So I just wanna ask a couple questions from this:
Does having a dented fuel rail hurt the engine in anyway?
Will the vibrations of the engine allow the injectors to fit into its spot?
Is there anything I should be worried about?
Should I purchase the bosch injectors and install them ASAP?
Is using the engine oil as lubricant for the o-rings bad?
Hope you guys can help Thanks

You could try purchasing a set of stock rubber o rings for your eBay injectors. They look very similar but might be too big.
I got a set of o rings for my 380 cc injectors just to be sure. I purchased my injectors off Amazon directly from Bosch & my install went smoothly.
Did you clean the holes where the injectors seat? I used a shop vac and a tiny brush to get all the debris out and a nice smooth surface for the injectors to slide right in.
I'd be careful with poorly fitting injectors, leaking fuel into the hot engine bay is a good way to convert your mini into a pile of char and ashes.I would swap the o-rings for some OEM ones and they should fit much better.
You should never use petroleum-based products on rubber o-rings. It will degrade the rubber. Find a nice silicone-based o-ring lubricant instead. You can find that at your local Lowe's or Home Depot in the plumbing department.
After reading this, I purchased a set of o-rings for the injectors and I also used Vaseline to help it fit perfectly. It still did not really go in any easier but I kept trying and I managed to get it in perfectly. The check engine light came on after the first time trying to fit the injectors and after I fitted the injectors completely, the engine light is still on. And yes I cleaned the holes before installation.
Could it be from my dented/bent fuel rail?
Also the link for the Bosch Injectors isn't working.
Yeah I was very nervous knowing that it wasn't fitted properly I did not drive at all. Only when I installed I drove it. That's exactly what I did and it fit perfectly. Thanks!
I removed the injectors again and I also removed the o-rings that the injectors came with and replaced it with oem ones and I also used Vaseline and it went in a bit easier but still pretty difficult.
You will probably need to clear the code and see if it comes back after you are sure the injectors are seated all the way.
If the dented / bent fuel rail is leaking you have issues and should replace it.
If you are going to pull the injectors out again to check the rail... you should use silicone instead of vaseline.
Super Lube is probably the most legit but I use silicone plumbers grease. Just like cooper48 said.
A petroleum-based lubricate (like Vaseline or engine oil) will degrade rubber over time. A silicone-based lubricate will not. This is the reason it's used by plumbers on faucet o-rings. Would I recommend you remove your injectors and substitute silicone for Vaseline? No. But next time use silicone. It is the correct lubricate for this application.
Why shouldn't I use Vaseline? I was watching a video on how to remove the injectors and when he was installing them he used Vaseline.
It's probably not the "end of the world", but in the future it might be better to use a silicone product. Lots of different opinions on the subject of Vaseline.
BTW ... Bosch 0280158315 380cc injectors will fit your MINI. They are spec'd for a Volvo but they're what I run in my modified 2004 MC40. Unlike the MINI versions that have two, these have four ports that enhance fuel atomization. Don't expect a simple injector change to noticeably alter your performance. With an upgraded air intake and supercharger pulley, plus 380cc injectors and a tune, you will realize a substantial increase in the performance of your R53. These are the first and most reasonably priced mods you should install.
