Drivetrain Installing new injectors
Installing new injectors
I am about to install 380cc after market injectors from Helix. Do I need a special lube for the 'O' rings when installing? I pulled the intercooler and the fuel rail etc., everything looks straight forward. Do I just pop out the old injectors and pop in the new ones? It seems just to simple. Am I missing anything?
I am also doing Andys (thanks!) VGS while I have intercooler off.

A couple of more comments on the Helix injectors. I love them in combo with my 19% and MTH flash.
Be very very careful when pulling the fuel rail once those new injectors have been inserted into the pockets. I pulled off the rail with new injectors installed to check something, and 3 of the small plastic o-ring retaining washers popped off and fell down into the head, resting on the valves. Was afraid I'd have to pull the head to get them out. But with a strong flashlight and a wad of duct-tape on the end of a long narrow screw driver, I was able to fish them out.
I also experienced something very unusual. I couldn't get the injectors to seal in the pockets... on my head, I had to raise the fuel rail by nearly 1/4" to get a seal... and that was too high-- fuel regulator interferred with the intercooler.
Eric at Helix is finding me a solution. In the meantime, I've used tapered brake-master-cylinder rubber seals, inserted over the injectors to seal the outter manifold pocket. I'm getting a little blowby at high boost, but otherwise, I'm thrilled with these.
