There is more than one VDC. My MINI sailed into the Port of Charleston also, and was sent to the VPC in Spartanburg, SC (about halfway between Charlotte, NC and Columbia, SC). My MINI cleared the VDC in 2 days!

Just for clarification. It is VPC (Vehicle Processing Center) and they are located at major ports, located regionally along the coasts (East and West). So if your car is destined for the west coast, it will be processed at a VPC in the west coast. It appears that there are at least 4 different ports - just a guess. My car was at the New Jersey port.

 

My story for the day......

This afternoon I decided to make what has become the "family" phone call to ASKMINI. In the process I headed over to the OL for my production number (sorry I didn't commit it to memory) and much to my surprise the OL was updated and showed my MINI at the VPC.

Next I called ASKMINI and spoke to our buddy Amanda, who had even more news for me, the car was released from the VPC and awaiting a truck for shipment.

But it gets even better than that.... We head out for lunch, and while we're out decide to swing by the dealership to fill out the financing paperwork and get all of that settled. Well we walk into the showroom (MINI of Sterling), and the whole staff is out (all 3 of them). Crystal the manager sees us and laughs' at which point I announce "well it's better than them looking at us and saying Oh crap the Babischkin's are here!" which got them laughing even more.

Crystal tells us that they were laughing becuase they were just talking about us, but she wouldn't tell us why. So we tell her that MINI said the car should be here soon, we figured by Friday so we thought we'd come down and start the paperwork. That's when Crystal gave us the news.....our car came in this morning!!!!!!

Well, as I type this the car is going through the dealer prep, and we are headed back out in an hour to get our car.

So it is with the utmost respect to those of you still waiting for delivery of your MINI's that I now say the official parting words for the Can't Wait for February Club:
I'M OUTTA THIS STINKING CLUB!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight, the MINIVAN a BRG MC with all 3 packages, chrome, xenon headlights, rain sensing wipers, HK sound, Nav system, anthracite trim and cloth seats comes home for my wife and I's thrid anniversary. I think its a pretty cool anniversary present!!!!

mbabischkin - congratulations! I wish mine would have the same fate. I called ASKMINI this morninig, and they mentioned that it was loaded on the truck today. How far did they have to truck the car to get it to your dealer? Mine, would need to go to Chicago. I'm hoping to start motoring this weekend.

 

I just learned that my MC will be arriving in the California port on 1/31 and that I will get her by 2/20. That's my birthday, too!! Yes, the waiting is so painful, yet bittersweet. I've stopped talking about it with my friends and family because they think I've gone over the deep end over "just a car". They CLEARLY don't get it. What's with these people??

I was so glad to learn about MCO; this gives us an outlet for pent-up emotions in the waiting period that few people (except us) understand.

My baby is silk green, white top, manual, Parking assistant, auto-dimming mirror, windshield sensor, premium package, sports package, run flat tires (which I've learned suck in snow, but we don't get snow where I live).

Wonder if the first NY, NY is the 1st port located in New Jersey, then on to NYC?

yep, Kevin's been awesome .. well, there was one prob w/ the 11/1/02 order (it became the 12/1/02 order ;-D ) .. but otherwise right on!! Sorry to ask again (and I'm doing this for the new members of this club) because I flagged the search site onto my Favorites on my search engine and don't know how to insert a link.

How do you search for the shipping progress of a MINI? I have db's page as a return site, but many others will want this info. as well as the instruction that you need the LAST 7 letters/digits of your VIN number (available from MINIUSA) to log in after you click on Search Auto. Thanks.

I'm secretly sure that quite a few more MINI soon-to-bes will join the happy folks aboard the FALSTAFF, just hoping everyone will check and be able to have really current info. (Nothing against MINIUSA, but it is really bogged down and days behind right now.)

Sparkles and Rumini, I'm looking forward to setting sail in good company! Where do you get off the boat? I'm in the first stop, NYC. Actually, I'm just down the street from the docks and sure wish I could just meet the boat. The dealer is hours away at the end of Long Island. Have you boarded yet? I've been booked and recieved at the terminal.

Are the times on the WW site local to the activity, GMT or something else? Anyone know?

Some of you are looking at financing, are you finding the MINI dealer competitive? I haven't gotten a quote from mine yet. The best I found was through PeopleFirst (CapitalOne) at 4.5% around Mid December, but that rate expired after 45 days and I need to get a new loan commitment. Don't know what their current rates are.

Thanks for everyones support and company! I can't believe I'm actually having fun waiting for this car to arrive.
