Ok I have my engine out to be replaced and came across what looks like salvage yard markings. Then checked the #s on the block and doesn’t match my vin so like other vehicles shouldn’t the vin also be stamped in the block?
I do not believe the block serial number matches the Vin number. I believe that applies to most or all vehicle manufacturers.
Imagine the costs to reproduce a single engine if one fails during the car production line. Engines are built just like all other sub assemblies in batches at different plants and shipped to the assembly line.
if there is a product month and year it should match the car’s production date.

That’s what I figured so now just exactly where at? From the looks of the yellow “5” that to me looks like a salvage yard marking but could be wrong.
