Some please explain this, might be my issue

so I've never been fully satisfied with my car and tonight after a bunch of reading I tied down the bpv arm so it stays in the position it is in when the car off, lever extended all the way out.
unfortunately the roads were every so slightly damp which USUALLY wouldn't have been an issue but now it's power comes on SO FAST its AMAZING and the car absolutely wouldn't hook up. I made an extra 1lb of boost only BUT it seemed like the boost came on almost instantly I LOOOOOVE HOW IT NOW MAKES POWER.
Obviously its Jerry rigged rite now BUT WHY and WHAT is it doing now thats making it so much more powerful ?
from reading shouldnt it not be making vacuum how I have it tied down ? Because it is and its making sane vacuum as it would with it not tied down. I also tried tying it down in the opposite direction but that way it ONLY made vacuum NO BOOST what so ever..
whats going on here ? Is it safe to just rig it to stay this way ?
my bpv has plenty of resistance when I try and press the plunger in it goes in kind of easy at 1st then the last 1/4 of the way its pretty hard to depress it and it then returns to the normal position with not much force or anything. Idk if that is normal. My car is an 04 with high miles and I've read 04s had crappy bpv from factory yo begin with..i just hope so much this cures my problem.

Sounds like your BPV is shot. If it was never replaced, replace it. The diaphragm is probably leaking. Also do the VGS mod when you replace it, this will actuate the BPV with direct vacuum instead of indirect. Boost buildup will be more direct, but you need to be easy off the throttle as the valve will close directly instead of more gradually.

The bypas valve is meant to be closed when there's no vacuum. It's not supposed to be closed all the time. The zip-tie trick is just to confirm if it's bad or not.

yes but from all i read which all i did last night was research its mainly for gas savings.. ive read that people were actually making bpv block off plates and running it that way.
my car has thrown no check engine codes , its running smoother than IT EVER has , THERE ZERO YOYO ANYTIME IN ANY GEAR ,after about 80miles it appears mileage isnt effected all that much to even care. So far all that I can tell that is a negative of doing this on my car is my iat's run about 10 degrees warmer , which even now I only run about 15-20 above ambient temp and it still recovers just as well as it always has..
think my bpv has been slowly failing over time robbing the car of power and I've been slowly modding my car to try and make it faster because its just never been fast enough for my liking. So it like it lost 5hp so I added 5 more hp with a mod or 2..so now its running how IVE ALWAYS WANTED IT TO.
I tested my car on a private spot i got and ive only ever been able to hit give or take 90mph and now no bull i hit 115 and let off as i didn't need to go any faster to confirm its running with more power. The launch too , geez. And once I hit 2nd it didn't give a bird chirp of the wheels it fricken barked em as I slammed it into 2nd..
I'm scared I buy a new stock one,, then don't like how its performing so then ille end up trying a dt bpv and if it doesn't run with the same amount of power my car is now I will have wasted how much time n money..

In the end it's your car, if you want to drive it this way, then by all means do so.

I just don't wanna blow my engine or something. I know the sc is getting driven harder but I'm ok with that . i still wish I had gotten a 20% pulley. If my sc crapped out it would be a perfect excuse for an upgrade.
but I sure don't wanna hurt the engine. My afr looked good , no cel , wasn't running hot no pinging or anything either, think its fine then ?

I wanted to chime back in on this..
this was effective for me because as another member mentioned, I did have a bad bpv and replacing with a Detroit tuned one gave the same results as tying shut the bpv but without any negative effects that tying it shut had.
it also forsure ran the sc harder as i ended up getting a guage and i my itats were on average 20-25 degrees warmer so it had to been pushing the sc too hard..
anyways lol I did go with a sprintex sc though..
