I'm on my third 2005 MCS and I can tell you that neither of the other two came into P.H. on WW ships. One of them came in on a K-Line ship and the other one came in on a NYK ship. My third 2005 MCS is currently "En Route", and from what I understand so far, it's on a NYK ship that left Southampton on either the 20th or the 21st of this month (putting it into P.H. somewhere around the 14th to the 21st of February). My MCS completed production on the 9th of January, so I'd imagine that we're on the same ship if your MINI was also finished around that same time (give or take 7 to 9 days).

doubt it...final production date was the 23rd.

I'm whistling a little Otis Redding song:
" Sitting on the dock of the Bay"

Yeah, it bugs me a bit about the color choices with different models. My fav color is red, but I really like the orange color for the cabrio and really might have gotten that if it was available in the MCS

There are two WW ships scheduled to leave Southampton for PH in February. The Carmen (2/12) and the Maersk Wave (2/18). I am hoping my car will be on one of these. I was not able to find any NYK or K-line ships scheduled using their websites.

Only 1 more week until my car is finished!!! Are we impatient or what?

It's a boy

Mine's done today too. I'll be back in a bit. Going to wait at the dealer...

I'm actually quitting my job later this week, and will lose my company minivan Don't tell my boss if you see him. I'm not going to miss the minivan much. But I will have to rent a car until I get the mini.

CR MCSC, LSD, sport, cold, leather, rear fog.

That is exactly what ASK MINI told me. That my car is on an NYK ship which left Southampton on the 20th or 21st. I think our MINIs are travel buddies. Hope they are having fun.

I just had to share my pain...spread the love, so to speak. My wife thinks this whole thing is just to damn funny and she believes that the whole tracking thing is a ploy of MINI and the info we get is just some 15 year old typing random stuff to screw with our minds. She thinks it funny now but wait until I hide the keys and she is stuck with the barge, she calls a Durango.

Yes! I'm on the Don Juan too. Mini going to Charleston then to Mini
dealer in Oklahoma City, where I will pick up maybe toward the end
of February, if I'm lucky. I totaled my '02 MCS Dec 28th and this is
my replacement. '05 MCS EB w/LSD,cruise and trip computer.

Well, here I am again. I have a 2005 MCS, white on black, stripes, HK, etc. etc. etc. that I got in August. My neighbor fell in love with it while teaching my 16 year old how to drive a stick (apparently my teaching methods and his learning ability were at odds!) Bottom line, she had to get one!

She walked into the dealer 1/2 and he had 1 spot open for January prduction which she snapped up! As of yesterday it was at the dock awaiting transport. When I was coming over I never could get any information on what ship I was on and I thought it'd be fun to follow hers across the pond. ASKMINI could never tell me what ship, shipping line, or anything I was scheduled on which was so frustrating. We actually think it swam across alone because for three weeks we heard nothing - well, they are amazing cars!!!

Can anyone tell me how to find out the ship, date of departure, etc. I never showed up on WW and as I recall you needed a bill of lading # or something from k-line or nyk. No one at Mini could tell me a thing. It will be going into California. Also, how long are you finding you stay at the dock? My production was complete 7/9 and didn't arrive in the states until about 8/21. I really think it got tired of the dock and just dove in!

TIA for any help. For those of you waiting for your first let me tell you you are in for a true treat! I just love this car! You just smile the whole time you're driving. And it makes everyone smile with you!

Breathe deeply - the wait is almost over!

Repeat after me, ask your MA. They have access to the distribution system that the OL and ASK-MINI don't.

Cheers,

I did - to no avail. He told me exactly what Mini did. That's what was so frustrating. The only thing he finally had was an expected docking date. His delivery date was not even accurate

It's too bad there is such a variation in MA's. Mine was able to give me the K-Line BL and cross reference number. It looked like it was a cut and paste from an email that they got from a mysterious organization called "Distribution". ASK-MINI could not get me this information as they told me that have no access to the distribution system.

Cheers,

Time line question. Our Mini was built 1/11, ship sailed on 1/19. Our MA claims it won't be available until 2/28-3/4. Does that sound correct? We are west coast so that may take a little longer. I thought typically it was about 4 weeks from date of production to delivery date. Any input?

This from wkndracr earlier in this thread:
check this site:
http://www.2wglobal.com/www/wep/index.jsp
go to cargo tracking, then select auto tracking, then enter your vin in the box

The Don Juan arrives South Hampton tomorrow, picks up a load of Minis',and leaves tomorrow bound for New Youk, Baltimore and
scheduled for arrivial in Charleston on 2/9/2005.
This is all according to th WW website.

I would imagine that would be about right. The ships take three to four weeks to get from Southampton to Port Hueneme, CA. I am assuming you are talking West Coast since you are in Portland. Then it has to go through the VDC where they go through a whole prep process. Then it still has to get trucked up to your dealer who then needs to do their final touches. There are so many variables along the way that could affect its arrival and probably nobody besides you really cares that much.

Fun isn't it? I am sure in the end it will all be worth it.

Kris

Wow, that worked great! My MINI was made yesterday, and will be on the Don Juan tomorrow. They don't mess around.
Any other shipmates?

From what I can gather from that tracking website, there are approximately 190 MINI's, most with build dates 01/24 to 01/27 all on the Don Juan. That's a lot of soon to be happy motorists!

It is showing an arrival date to NY on 02/05.

That's not fair! Mine has been made and at the Port for a week :( Guess hopping a ride to the West coast isn't as speedy right now :P
