got a early Xmas gift from my friend, I been giving him lots of mini things lately for his r56 and help him anytime he needs work done to it and the other day after I let him drive my car to feel it out he said, " man you need these far more than I do " so I ended up with these , I then of course painted the lettering and I'm deciding what color to do the rims and BLACK is not an option .
I have not yet , no...guess ille wait and see what happens with my cars color.
aaaaaand these are my 1st slicks, do they need to be balanced ??? Id LOVE to be able to rock them on nice days and then what about track day events , will my suspension and steering components be ok with unbalanced wheels, its all going to be new performance parts so id rather not wreck them the 1st day out
I could always have my daily driver rims and or the slicks rims paint matched too..

They definitely should be balanced, the vibrations will be pretty unpleasant and could do some damage if they're not. I wouldn't recommend driving them on the streets at all, the grip when they're cold is pretty minimal. It would suck to slide into the back of someone because you're on cold tires. I've only driven 1 day at a track on slicks with my MINI, but I've driven a lot of race cars on slicks. They usually take 1/2 - 1 lap before they have a decent amount of heat and grip, and that's with pushing them hard in the corners. I have no idea what they'd be like driving straight for miles at a time, but i don't imagine that they'd have tons of grip.

It’s hard to not sound preachy on subjects where safety is a factor, but there are several things to consider with running those tires on the street.
Race tires/slicks are structurally different than road tires and aren’t made for streets with potholes, expansion joints, and other hazards not found on a smooth racetrack in a controlled environment.
I personally wouldn’t consider using them on the street unless they’re DOT approved, but even if they are, it probably still isn’t a good idea to run them as they might barely meet the technical requirements for approval. The window of safe driving conditions can be small with with extreme performance tires and DOT approved slicks would probably make it even smaller. As stated above, it would probably take some effort to get them up to proper operating temps for grip and your braking distances can severely be affected if the tires have no grip.
Another thing to consider is tire condition is usually inspected during in an accident investigation. Non DOT approved tires, or tires deemed not suitable for the conditions, could lead to bigger problems such as the possibility of your insurance denying coverage for an incident.
These alone would keep me from running them on the street.

Sounds like hoosier R6's? Yeah, I even with those 2 grooves they shouldn't be driven on public streets. hoosier has that on their website, and honestly I don't think the slicks look especially good. Mine leave a pretty noticeable gap between the tire and the fender, but that's because they're 205/45 R16 and I'm on stock springs. Another reason not to drive them on the streets is I don't thing you can patch/plug slicks. Nothing like picking up a nail in a $250 tire that can't be fixed.
Thanks guys. I guess I will put them on and see how the slicks feel and take it from there. I will only use them for shows send track , that insurance thing just better not risk that. That never even crossed my mind.
Got em in the other adjustable swaybar links now and lowered the front but needs to go down some more but looking sweet. Thankfully i ordered the rite ones as theres 2x length links.. I actually had the fronts on the rear n had to switch them..my wife ordered me the front camber plates last night too so all I need is the rear upper control arms n I'm gonna replace the swaybar bushing with polly bushings too since theyre cheap n easy enough so why not... SHES fricken coming along 10x faster than I ever expected man....loving it
also , what's yours guys opinions on cutting a little acces panel into this spot in front of the strut mount so that i can leave in the twist **** in and ontop of the rears struts so then i can just reach through the access panel and adjust their rebound settings there is sheetmetal id have to cut through which i don't mind IF its structurally safe to do that
I drew the spot in pink to mark it, I could make it barely big enough to turn the thing too.. BUUUUUT is that ok or sade to drive with the rebound selecter in the top of the coilovers???????

Adam did your coilovers come with the extensions for the adjusters?? The Rev9 kit I looked at included them. If they do I've seen a few people run the adjusters into the hatch.

Thats a great idea ! Thanks man ! I don't know if the tool goes all the way into the coilovers like in those pics , if thats the case ( i forgot how it sat in them ) I will do it just like in the posts you linked me..thats less intrusive and just as effective.
Played with my coilovers more today and lowered it, I still wanna go lower in the front and a liiiiiiiitle lower in the rear so it retains the bulldog stance..
these things are cool.. lol ima get coilovers now for aaaaaany car I own in the future.. I can't wait to see how much I can adjust the ride quality n stuff..
I just ordered the upper rear adjustable arms and in a few days I will order the polly swaybar bushings. Then I will have modified pretty much most the suspension, bushings and added stiffening bars.
I'm going to just do alittle bit everyday and then get it ready for my dream paint job 🙃 🙂 .
Got in the upper rear arms now and adjusted everything MORE to better dial it in best I can..
like my ingenuity with the wood to push the knuckle into the correct position? Lol I'm a one man team. When there's a will there's a way..truuuuuust me.
just gotta order the polly swaybar bushings and put in the front camber plates and 4x ss brakelines stiiiiiiiiiiill.
Also check out this rock that was wedgded between a control arm and mount , so when ever it moved the rock would grind.. come to think of it , I did always here a ever so slight noise and I bet that was it !

I have an SPC gauge that locks to the wheel lip that I use occasionally, but I've never tried one of the hub mounted ones. I keep telling myself that I'll make a water level or something and set things up so I can do a truly good alignment, but I never have.

I noticed some plastic cable ties under your car. May I suggest using ss cable ties? They are much stronger and don't deteriorate anywhere near as fast. See links below. Actually I have a bunch, if you want I can send you some, just let me know.

Thx man. Good idea with the ss zipties , next time I'm in harbor freight I will grab a pack to replace the few underneath there with.. yea, I have a few like holding the sensor on and a couple holding my heatshield together after I formed it to fit over my air diverters..

The front of my car where the fog lights would be if I had them is stitched together with plastic zip ties. But for things that matter or are hard to get to the metal ones are sweet. I only mentioned it because I didn't even know they existed a few months ago 😂😂.

Good! Lol. I have poor communication skills and I just recently found out metal cable ties exist. I am cheap and have been know to use duct tape and bubble gum in place of bolts and welding ha ha. So for someone who likes cable ties, you can imagine how excited I was to find out you can get them made of stainless steel! So I tell people all the time, apparently oblivious to the fact they've been around awhile and everyone already knows. Stoked to find out you can get them at harbor freight though
Changed my oil and finally got sick of fighting a stripped drain plug so I installed one of those magnetic quick change plugs and tested it 1st to make sure it would drain out all the oil and not back any up which it didn't thankfully. I also am trying new oil AND it happen to be on sale too. Also check out autozone now, they FINALLY have free oil change reminder stickers which are awesome.
I then Figured out how to install my camber plates and began doing that but ran short on time ( back n body can only do so much ) because I had to trim out the shock towers so I could adjust the plates while installed.
I got my new milwaukee right angle ratchet and I LOVE IT with that and my bamf impact omg things go so much faster and easier now...heres my little setup I work with out in my garage. This is whats been building my car. Lol those tools n me! The heater is MY FAVORITE!!! LOL was 8'F out today but stayed 50s in my garage with that heater N all my lights on. Hopefully tomorrow depending how I feel ille get the front coilovers all together and reinstalled and adjusted yet again..
got giddy and tested them out today without any professional adjustments or anything ..lol all done by me and my tape measure but HOLLY SHIIIIIIIIIIT . They fricken ride soooooooo amazing . They have absolutely changed how the car feels.. its so much more level now going over bumps but it was just a light drive down some bumpy windy roads and I am absolutely blown away.
did a big dummy I accidentally drank a mouthful worth of brake cleaner ( long story ) and omfg it's terrible . I made my self throw up rite away and didn't swallow much but even now a few hours later it's still lingering in my taste and smell and my wife says she can still smell it on my breath . I did take all proper safety precautions after minus drinking charcoal but I did eat alotta bread half chewed lol..

The camber plates were easy to figure out how to put on lol so I hope I did it rite. Everything's sitting even and no odd noises or anything plus it feels great so I hope it's about set.
And with the little bit of salt on the roads , cold hard tires and INSTANT power thnx to 2'F Temps traction is non existent.
