Fumoto Oil Drain Valve- Think this will work??

I just installed a Fumoto drain valve on my Mini and I'm worried that its hanging down too far. Its just a 1/2" or so below the oil pan but seems like a long way. I put one on another car recently and it tightened down in a similar orientation. Valve lever is also down. Frustrating.

Anyone else installed one and it ended up in this orientation?

Thanks

Does it stick out past the bottom of the pan?

Quite a few are used here! I don't have one though.

Just installed mine a couple of weeks ago, it is facing down and a little lower then the oil pan yes, but not in the way of anything in my opinion? the shield underneath the car is lower then the lowest part of the oil drain.

I’d say it’d most likely not be an issue. Just lookout for road hazards...but that’s the same for all cars.

whats the benefit here? Easier oil changes?

Yes easier and you can run a clear tube to the plug to run the oil to whatever container since the oil filter is accessible from the top

Mine points straight down as well. I'm not too worried about it since as Rah said it's not actually the lowest point in the car. If you hit this you will be high centering your car anyway. Worth the risk I'd say - oil change is now sooo easy, just run the hose straight into a jug and flip the valve!

I had one on my R50 for more than a year in that very position. No issues at all. Mine didn't even come with the clip to hold the tab in place and still no issues. My R53, the tab is pointing straight up. A little harder to use, but still no issues there either.
