Chili Red Paint Rub-Off?

Anyone with a Chili Ted car have paint running off under the hood? I saw this today.

Yes, I washed under the hood with Fantastik or similar. Just like yours, the paint wiped off very easily.

that area has only the 'base' of the two part base - clear system

base is WEAK without the clear on top

a strong cleaner takes it off easily - too strong a solution of simple green has been discussed ..... some colors of base are softer than others as well ...

More importantly, you need to take a hard look at the possibility of strut tower mushrooming. Those bolts look splayed. A pair of tower braces are called for.

Yes paint rubbing off is one thing, the mushroomed shock tower is another. Sure does look like those are pushed up pretty good. Suggest you also take a close look at the strut mount to see if the rubber is cracked.

I actually took the pic to show the mushrooming. It isn’t as bad as some I’ve seen and helped me get a deal on the car. I looked at a car a week ago that nearly had the sheet metal ripped off 😳. I’ll correct it and put a brace on. Recommendations?

Anyone touched up the paint under the hood? Is it worth messing with?

The spayed strut tower studs can be exaggerated by the wide angle lens of the "smartphone". Clearly there is mushrooming.

I’ll correct it and put a brace on.
Are you bloody Brit? No one in the US, especially in Texas would say collect except the bounty hunters. Can I ring you to sort this out?

Edit: I misread "correct" as "collect". Need more home roast double espresso to help multitasking at 7 am left coast time.

Can't be, he called that big piece of sheet metal forward of the windscreen 'the hood' instead of the bonnet.
A thread started about 10 years ago got a lot of attention, a bit over 1K responses.

Hit it with a close match Rustoleum or similar to prevent corrosion.

Well, I didn't get this car. It's still for sale in Clarksville, TN if anyone is interested. It drives really nice.
