Hello Nam. I found a great budget exhaust for you guys who don't want to spend the $800-1000 on a system or fear that you have to go with an Ebay exhaust. I've tried just about every cheap muffler/cannon you could buy from eBay or Pepboys. But I found this Megan Racing Muffler on Amazon for $130. Having recently relocated my battery, I got the muffler and installed it yesterday and did a lot of driving. A local muffler shop would probably charge $100 for a job like this but I did it myself. Anyways, it sounds amazing. Quiet-ish when normal driving but when you put your foot down, it is a nice, crisp exhaust tone. Not high pitched either like other exhausts I've tried. I'll try to post a sound vid soon though I already know it's gonna sound like **** on video.
Now I just have to get a new lower bumper piece to undo where the Cannon went.
I just put it in the trunk space on the driver side. Didn't even need to modify the wires. I still need to make a strap for the battery but it holds in place and doesnt slide around.
I like it and it would do better on a R56 (Gen II).
Do you know what it is made of (stainless or steel)?
Also, do you know if Megan makes the muffler with just a single outlet? That would work for your R53 where the pipe needs to be routed around the battery. The stock pipe could be cut to fit it in. In this case I would put the muffler on the passenger side to have better balance when just the driver is in the car. Just a thought.

I cannot tell from the photos. Did you recess the battery by utilizing the original battery box?
If not you raised the CG which is something I would not do on the Mini. Also the passenger side is a better corner to balance out the driver side weight bias. I know you likely do it because the battery cable runs along the driver side sill. Putting it in the passenger side will require spending money on heavy gauge batter cable and splicing parts.
