Budget Exhaust R60

Has anyone done a budget exhaust with a universal Magnaflow on an R60?

I'm looking for a little better Flo and some better sound but not going to spend 700-1700...not worth a few HP. I have had success doing this on many other cars just hoping someone has the formula.

Many thanks,
Rich

I just did the resonator delete and 2nd cat delete. Sounds a little better but it is a little louder than I wanted on the highway. Overall though, it really isn't that much louder.

The Megan one is pretty darned budget friendly if you ask me.

I think if you were to add nicer tips to some home-grown system you wouldnt be too far off from just buying something like this.

I have the Magnaflow installed on my R60. I had my local exhaust shop perform a res delete and full 3" piping with a Magnaflow muffler. Sounds incredible and a lot cheaper than the bolt on kit from Magnaflow.

If you’re not going to Tune your Car, you can keep your OEM Catted DP and Flex and remove the 2nd Cat. Leave the OEM Resonator and Pipe the back to the Dual MF Mufflers and you will still get the sound you’re looking for.

The key to taming the drone is either the OEM Resonator or a quieter Aftermarket (to cut down the rasp) and the muffler tips have to extend past the body 1”-2”

While I know the following might be slightly out of your budget I thought you could use it as a tool to see where the money goes

Milltek Catless Downpipe - $250.00
Scorpion 2.5” Flex Front Pipe - $215.00
Vibrant 2.5” Ultra Quiet Resonator- $89.00
MagnaFlow 2.5” Y Pipe - $40.00
2x Magna Flow 2.5” in/out Resonated Race Mufflers - $139.00 x 2 = $278.00
2x Budget CF Tips from e-Bay - $28.00 x 2 = $56.00
2.5” Pipes - $200.00 ish (Was a gift from a friend)
Muffler Shop - $150.00 (but I also did some of the welding and fab work, so this can be more)

I have an Awesome sounding Countryman now. Drone is Minimal. I can still have a conversation without screaming and listen to music

I went custom. Running one 3" magnaflow race muffler in the center pipe, and two 2.5" mufflers on my dual 2.5" exit pipes. I run 3" so it's louder than most, but it sounds so good. Most expensive part were my mufflers at a about $150 each.

Sounds good, we do have a new option now "ECS Vacuum Actuated Exhaust Cutouts" and we had some people buy the 2.5" version for the Countryman. Keeps everything oem and then you hit the switch and it's much louder and aggressive. So hopefully they will post up the sound.

I should also point out that when you allow the exhaust to flow better, you also allow your turbo to spool faster.

The Catted DP suppresses the pops and burble and the pops and burble only shows up when in [Sport Mode]

So what did you end up going with? I'm looking to get a "budget friendly" exhaust system for my R60S as well.

I went cheap and easy with mine and am actually pretty happy with it. It’s a bit louder than some, but I like the tone, it’s not raspy, and I don’t have to deal with drone. Since you are not really going to gain much more than sound with it. I have a CNT catless DP with the 2nd cat and resonator deleted, with the factory muffler still in the back. Pops are loud like gunshots, and sounds really nice when you are hard in it.

That’s not bad, but I’m too cheap! Lol.... I’m in it for a little under $200 for the downpipe and then a dude at an exhaust place cut out the cat and resonator and ran a one piece pipe from the flex to the muffler for $100 cash.
