Overlapping/Nullifying Mods??? Further damage???
Recently, my 2006 MCS suffered a catastrophic series of failures. It began with my SC, then snowballed into a complete engine swap.
While doing so, I decided to go all in and replace/upgrade loads of parts. Over the past 2 years, my suspension has been done 100%. Now, I've continued on the engine/performance mods. I've added a CAI, 15% SC pulley, 2% Crank pulley, NGK spark plugs and (previously installed) a custom cat-back exhaust with muffler deletes.
Included in these mods was the Detroit Tuned Bypass valve. This is meant to alleviate any lag in the throttle response. After a few days of the ECU relearning the ratios, I've seen a dramatic improvement in throttle response and an added "throw you back in the seat" factor. My next intended upgrade is the Shark Injector. One of the advertised benefits of this mod is an increase to the throttle response.
Who here can vouch for the Shark Injector? Who thinks this mod could nullify the effects of the bypass valve? Could adding all of these mods prior to the Shark waste the potential of its benefits? And who thinks adding the Shark Injector could harm my car?

The search engine here is not the best but if you a Google search for Mini Cooper Shark Injector you will get one than a few posts that will lead you back here. Below is one. Way Motors is a vendor that has his own shop. He has a post within the thread. You make up your own mind.

Allot depends on what you are trying to get out of the car. You want speed, wrong car. You want something that the Corvettes, Mustangs and Camaros will pull over on the Dragon for, then work on the brakes and suspension.
My friend has a engine similar to yours but bigger brakes and is lowered. His Gen1 will run over allot of Gen2s and 3's on the twisties as he is very good driver.

A cam, bigger injectors and a tune are the motor side next steps. If you can turn your own wrench, about $1200. Double that and you can add a shorty header. The biggest dilemma with the Gen1 is although it is a great platform its old and a person is never going to get the mod money back out of the car.

Don't buy the Shark, they're outdated and were garbage even back in their hayday. If you want to keep the car reliable and make power I would highly recommend a tune from a reputable source such as RMW or Mynes.
