Swapping wheels prior to taking delivery...
I've heard of many people saying that the wheels they'd be getting on their Cooper, or Cooper S, or whatever that haven't been pleasing to them, say that they did a swap with the dealer. What I'd like to do, if possible (which I suppose is ultimately up to the dealer, but I'd like to know if it's been done) is switch my 16" 5-stars that are coming with my Sport Package to the 16" x-lites that come stock on the Cooper S. Since according to the accserories catalog they are the same price, the dealer should have no problem doing this if they have some "just laying around," right? How would I go about asking the dealer this, because it seems like a rather odd request, one that only us fanatics here at NAM would ask
? I really like the x-lites and plus they are lighter. Do you think the dealer will do this swap for me?

No, it's an added cost. Most dealerships will scam your original wheels too - watch out for that. You're better off trying to trade, or outright sell/buy here in the Marketplace.
Good luck!

I am swapping the wheels too, with aftermarket wheel and the dealer agreed to buy my X-lites and tires for $500, I guess they will turn right around and sell them to someone with MC for more, this is the marketplace

What will most likely happen is they will do the swap for you, but charge you about $500 - $600 and keep your original wheels. As has been said before, why not keep your wheels and then swap with another owner or buy a set at a later date.
FYI. I have a set of x-lites with runflats sitting in my warehouse if you are interested. However, shipping from Hawaii would be rather expensive.

I just picked up my 05 on Sat. brought home and installed r85's S-lite that I purchased on Ebay essentially brand new for $112.50 ea. vs. $225.00 @ dealer Bought 17" tires Falken ziex 205-45z-r17 from R speed and now have 15" holies w/ new tires (Continental Conti Touring 175-65-r15) to sell. The dealer wouldn't do any thing, except sell me a car w/ the 17" set up @ retail price. So I saved a good bit, and if i can sell the others I'll be even better off.
In my case, the dealer gave me a credit for $1000.00 CAD for the stock 16" tires and mags that came with the Cooper S.I then bought Yokohamas and Konig "Holes" ( $1600.00 CAD)and had them sent to the dealer balanced and ready to install, which they did.Total cost $600.00.

When oredered my 04 MC I had upgraded the rims to R90's and was told I had to keep the 5 star from the sports package. But when I picked the car up I had to ask for the 5 star rims...

Also, what kind of a cost are we talking about?
