Ok so long story short. A friend of mine is a car dealer and I bought a 05 mcs at the auction. The car has mods and I was aware there may be issues. (Most auction cars do) I'm getting a cylinder 2 misfire. Car is going into limp mode when driving under load and boost it seems. I checked coil and spark plugs. I know the car has a pulley, intake, full exhaust. I'm not sure if the car has been tuned. One thing I noticed that striked me as rather odd,the car has blue injectors in 3 out of 4 spots. And the one mismatched injector is tannish brown and much larger. Now,I did some searching and can't seem to come up with much in regards to that being an issue. My basic question is: could that possibly cause a misfire if the car is or has a tune? I'm going to do a compression and possibly a leak down test later also.
P0302 is the code you're receiving? Typical causes could be spark plugs or wires, coil, maybe an oxygen sensor(s), fuel injector, or even a burned exhaust valve. Some good info here. Can you post up a picture of the injectors?
Stock fuel injections are tannish in color and the 380cc injectors from a JCW Engine Tuning Kit are blue.
Yes that's the info I found when searching. There's a stock injector in the cylinder # 2 runner and blue-jcw in the other 3 runners. So my question is could that cause a cylinder 2 misfire running a different injector or would that be a non issue assuming that odd injector is working as it should?

I'll see if I can get a pic up when I get back to the shop.
Also is there any way I can tell if the car has been tuned?

That's the one stock injector that's in there. But the blue injectors that are in the other 3 spots aren't that fat. And they're black and blue. Trying to figure out what they are as we speak.
Look on eBay for Mini Cooper injectors. You will see several choices for sale, and get an idea which you have. The dilemma is you don't know if it was tuned or not. Are you near any of the MINI experts that can tune it for you?
You have a few choices - get it reprogrammed with a stock or JCW tune and install matching injectors, or keep the aftermarket (?) injectors and pay to have it tuned properly for those.
Looks like from a little research it's an srt4 injector? I'm so lost right now. Somebody may have hacked this car up. I need to bring this poor thing back to life...
Yea , sounds like some 550 injectors. That also has the other versions. I would go back to stock, and see if the car has a flash or not , or just have it flashed to stock. I would make a list of the mods and see what people matched to get those mods to find the set up.

I'm not too sure, but a good idea would be to call a shop that offers tuning and see what they have to say. As far as the injectors, if it does or doesn't have a tune, that is the first place I would look to get changed out to see if the code disappears.
I spoke to Jan at RMW looks like it has the srt4 450cc injectors. He said it would definitely be an issue with one stock injector. So basically I need to hunt down that injector and a piggy back connector. And go from there.... Compression was high in that cylinder also.
If your car has 450 injectors then it has been tuned. I would pull all the injectors and then get one that matches the other 3 and your misfire should go away. You can not go back to stock size or any other injector size without retuning the ECU. Match the injectors off the part number on them, not by the color.

Thanks for the info. I also kinda came to this conclusion with the help of you guys and Jan from RMW. Looks like I was able to figure out it has Jan's 450cc injector kit and the pigtail connectors to make them work. I'm missing one of the connectors obviously so I'll need to get a single injector and single pigtail injector and go from there. Hopefully that will solve the cylinder #2 misfire. Compression seemed high in that cylinder also. Other 3 cylinders were all around 150 or a little higher and that #2 cylinder has 180 compression so maybe some oil has escaped past the rings.
