Where's the 2005 Configurator?

I thought that the 2005 USA configurator was due up today. Thet don't make 2004's anymore, so why configure one?

The Mini.com international site has a new configurator, with a USA option, but it just takes you to the Miniusa.com 2004 configurator!

Has Mini announced a delay in the configurator change date, or is it just delayed by programming problems?

It'll probably be in August seeing that dealerships won't receive any 2005 models until then.

OK, now that August had come and gone.... Has anyone heard anything about the 2005 configurator?

When I heard about the LSD and the few extra horses, and then checked the resale on my 2003 model, I got in line. But I want to think about options and prices before I make a final decision to follow through with a purchase. I don't want my order date to get here and then have to make decisions at the dealership in the excitement of the moment.

Its frustrating to check the MINI site and see that I can still configure a 2004 model, that I understand isn't even being built anymore, but I can't check the options and prices for 2005 models that are currently rolling off the assembly line.

Make that, "now that July has come and gone..." and just chalk the error up to impatience.

But the question remains, has anyone heard anything on this??

Hey it is another "MiniUSA dropped the ball thread". I think it is ridiculous. Absolutely no excuse in my book. They have known about the mods for some time. 2005's are arriving at dealerships and you haven't been able to order a 2004 for at least a few months.

Here's some info behind the delay: http://www.motoringfile.com/2004/05/...r_configurator

Look for specs to be introduced anytime now and the configurator to be in late August

The "Features and Specks" portion will be avaliable any day now. The configure a mini portion will be the end of this month.

Well...it's September now, and it FINALLY looks like the new configurator (for the US) is going in. I know this, suspect it, because that's MINI's excuse for my NOT being able to fully check my order online. THAT problem, is apparently due to everything else taking a back seat to the new configurator install. (I'll believe it when I see it.)

Oh well.

If you check out miniusa.com right now, you can now see the pricing, and some pictures, for 2005 model options. That helped me in sticking with my decision NOT to get the new chrono option. (I'm still uncertain about the new Xenon headlights.)

Although I've already ordered, and am impatiently waiting for, my MINI, I'm looking forward to playing around with the new configurator, so I can see how my car will REALLY look. (I wonder if they'll get the colors to match their real world counterparts better this time around?)

If you are waiting on the 2005 configurator to assist you with making your order. There is now enough info, though spread around somewhat, to help you make your decisions without it. So, go ahead and place that order!

Unless you want the Cabrio, in which case...maybe you should wait.

Oops, so sorry, you are right. It's August, not September. I guess I was just thinking about the month my MINI is supposed to show up. Which, sadly, isn't until next month, September. Or, maybe not until October? God, this is KILLING me!

Rats, I wish I could go back in to correct that error. Too late now. Hopefully, my mistake on the month will NOT turn out to be true! It'd be kinda funny if it did, then I wouldn't have to be so ashamed of myself.

I'm sorry to hear about your having to go back to school. I guess it had to happen eventually for you. (Man, I'm glad those days of mine are over!) Enjoy what's left of the Summer. (No, really, I mean it.)

yeah, I thought school was over...too many years ago to remember, then I came upon the realization that school never ends; especially when you want to go further in this field (engineering). I acvtually wish I could afford to just go back to school full-time and get this over in a year and a half, rather than the next five.
BTW THX! I plan on trying to enjoy the next couple of weeks (if I could just get away from work for a couple of days...now that's dreaming)

Come September 1st, we'll all say the configurator will be uploaded in the next few weeks or October due to the web designer's dog chewing on the CD that the new configurator file was copied on.

You CAN go back and correct that error! There's an 'edit' button on each of your posts that only you can see. It's right next to the 'quote' button.

(Or maybe I just have special priveleges??)
