OS Giken GT Clutch

OK So, right now i have a Spec stage two in my MINI.
It works well, no complaints about the job it does…

BUT… The noise it makes (flywheel/tranny) chatter, is driving me bats.. It's gotta go.

OS Giken say's their GT clutch has hardly any chatter..

My question:

Is there anyone out-there with an OS Giken GT Clutch installed on their Modded MINI?

Can you give me feed back on your experience? Maybe some HP numbers of your mini to go with your feedback?

Any info would be appreciated!!

Cheers

Nathan, the founder of one of the "other" mini forums (motoring--alliance)yanked his os gicken clutch and went back to a stock clutch...said the on/off nature of the OS clutch was just not great for the street....might want to ask him his thoughts...he has a highly modified car....he was the one who won the exaust competition at the dragon this year....

Sounds fairly accurate, it's more for track use. I have the OS and it's definitely not street friendly, my mini is primarily for the track @ 251Whp. Difficult the feather the clutch on the street during everyday driving.

Your going to get those noises with any lightweight flywheel setup, and the Giken has an all metal throwout bearing that will also make noise.

This is why the Valeo kit is so popular as it is quiet and affordable.

I'm fairly certain my car is putting out above 220 hp at the wheels.. can the Valeo handle that?

I have one and have had it for about 10k so far. It is a little louder but IMO bearable. I have 235 whp. As mentioned above it's a little bit of a pita in stop and go traffic, but if you're not in that kind of traffic everyday it's not a big deal. If I was in traffic everyday I probably wouldn't be driving a mod'd mini anyways. I like the clutch and would do it again if I had to.

I have an OS Giken GT clutch and diff on my heavily modded R53 with Rotrex - 350whp. It works pretty well on the street, just dump it and don't slip it very much or it will wear out too quickly. It chatters just slightly - quite tolerable. My last clutch plate lasted 43k miles. And the OS Giken clutch has a metal throwout bearing - a better design than MINI.
