ideas to give consideration

I am thinking about whether or not i want to rub out the little icons on the toggle switch panel that let you know what each toggle does. as it is, no one that gets into my car has any clue as to what they do, so i figure this will make them a little more at a loss. i like confusion.

also, considering getting a shift **** with a totally ridiculous shift pattern.. maybe like an octagon, or a star sign pattern (maybe like the big dipper, or sagittarius... how many gears would i have, then? hmmm.)

the best PsyOps conversion would be a reverse function steering wheel. but i think that would get me killed.

thoughts?

Here's my shifter pattern.

You can get one made for you for $150 at http://www.whalenshiftmachine.com/home.htm

Just ask Doug for the "Lithium" design bead-blasted.

He could add 1,2,3,4,5 and R to the design also.

my friend also suggested reversed pedals, and rear facing rear seats.

i personally think a totally retro-fitted right hand steering made operational and the left hand drive steering wheel made non-functioning would also be quite fun. I guess i could make the pedals work on the left hand side, and pedals not work on the right hand side, so driving would have to be a team effort. interesting.

trippy - i already have a classic 6 speed whalen, and at the time i was considering getting a 5 speed **** as speculation, but it seemed $120 (price at the time) was a bit too much for a joke. I DO have access to a ginormous milling center....... hmm..

Yeah, but just think -- if someone stole your car

If someone stole your MINI you'd find it crashed nearby into a wall or tree with the windows half down and DSC turned off.

Maybe you can get the license plate "Dyslexic"

How about having 4 reverse speeds and only 2 forward ones?

Removing the toggle icons is no problem.
You can take it to a airbrush shop and they can add other icons and repaint the whole panel. Or you can repaint it and add decals from plastic model kits for your icons. Be creative. Maybe put a bunch of colored smilies like

for the windows
for DSC
for door lock/unlock
for fog or rally lights

For the shift **** you can engrave various sports logos or your NAM username with shift pattern. Hey if you have an MCS what about putting on the MC shift pattern! That's PsyOps.

have fun.

i particularly like the 4 reverse speeds idea.

i think another cool thing that could be done is put a giant fitted picture of a view of the outside (so you couldnt actually see outside) and hide vr goggles connected to cameras in the front of the car.

i could also replace my steering wheel and pedals and shifter with a ps2 controller.

I used the stickers from the Unofficial Owner's Manual for my toggle bank. They're just fun.

Very OEM!

PEP,

I like your toggle labels.
Nicely done.

Now if we really want to get fancy we can back light each one so it shows in rainbow colors at night.

Maybe a mini lava lamp back there to cast different colors and various glitter to cast shadows and hues that are reflective.

For the shift **** how about a shift pattern made out of alphabet like-

Up------Down
Left-----Right
Above--Below

Or slowest---slow
Fast-------Faster
Turbo-----Insane

Or maybe a shift pattern with random numbers-
Or do it in chinese characters. Ha!

how about rear wheel drive and steering. i could make all my seats face the rear, put the front seats closest to the rear window, rig up all interior components so that the rear would be the front. finally, our minis can be rear wheel drive.

and steering.

and a catastrophic accident waiting to happen. think of the mayhem!
isnt it delicious?

Yeah, I thought they just needed to light up, but I really like the lava lamp idea. My trusty lava lamp lights my computer room as we type.
