Rear Brakes

So my rear calipers are kapuut. they keep seizing, and the rotors and pads are knackered.

thinking of putting r56S rears on, but I cant seem to find out if I need any adapters for the calipers or not, anyone know?

Are there any other options? The tce/wilwood kit it too pricy for me right now, I thought there was a caliper kit with no parking brake, but now cant find it.

Thanks everyone!

You gain nothing by putting R56 rear calipers - they are practically the same thing. I would just put on a set of R50/R53 replacements.

Talk to Todd at TCE - if you don't want a parking brake, I am sure he can recommend something. But why would you not want a parking brake?

No parking brake = NO EMERGENCY BRAKE!! hate to park on a hill...or have brake line fail....
Also not sure a car would pass a safety check (state or even track) with an inop e-brake...
Just get new or rebuilt calipers.....
Bigger rears only add weight...they don't do very much IMO...you need them...but simply changing the pad types are what MOST EVERYBODY does if they need to change the bias a bit for the track.....

you can get some rear calipers on ebay preety cheap, i think rock auto might even have some. or find them off a junk car. or you might just be able to rebuild them, the pistons could just be very dirty, easy enough to take apart a caliper and clean it

Did you check the cables and make sure it was not the cables sticking but the actual caliper piston?

I do want a parking brake, I just thought there was a kit that didnt have one. Must have been thinking of my other car. No safeties to worry about here, track or otherwise. Im sure its the calipers, Ive had to work them free a few times during pad changes, or I start a road trip and they are fine, then after a few hours, one sticks. I mostly wanted the bigger rears for the look. Ill need to replace the front next year, and planned on going with either the r56S fronts, or maybe a LDM, A couple days ago I got a terrible sounds coming from the back when i touched the brakes, and now it hasnt gone away, I think a pad delaminated (not the first time). I guess I just dont drive it as much as I used to

But the question still stands, do I need any mounting adapters to put the r56S rears on?

Thanks

One suggestion...
If you are hellbent for r56 rears (or other rear bbk..it has been done)...
And you are going yo get bigger fronts too...
I would install the r56 master...basicly a full transplant....
The r56 fronts Have bigger pistions..bit the gen1 master can handle the volume ok...but go bbk on the back too...I don't think you will like the results.....
Good luck....guess if you are after "looks" rather than function....But safety is kinda of important...

No adapters are available that I know of. I looked into doing this a few years back, R56 rear calipers won't clear R53 training arms. (Brake lines interfere) Modifying the arm may work, another is to use R56 trailing arms. Pricey.
