Clock Running Slow

I know this sounds weird but my dash clock (digital) runs about two minutes slow each month. I keep resetting it, but it just won't keep time, which drives me crazy because I like to listen to newscasts at the top of the hour.

Is this a battery operated clock? If so, where is the battery located. If not, should I be worried about any other OBC modes that might be affected?

Anybody else have this problem?

Think there was a TSB for this from MINI . I had this problem back in 2006 and they replaced and reprogrammed the Speedo unit cluster (clock in in the speedo). Its coded to Vin. But mine was losing minutes every day, then lost keeping time all together.

Looks like the minute a month is typical on pre 7/2004 with the separate clock on the headliner and the one in the speedo ( post 7/2004 ).

Thanks

Mine typically *gains* a few minutes per week.... Not enough to be a big deal, as long as I keep it in mind, and certainly better than running slow. I mentioned it @ the dealer when I had the car in for service several years ago, and they suggested that they would need to replace the clock... itself at some exorbitant cost, of course,

Believe it or not, it was only losing two minutes right after setting the time. So I set the clock two minutes ahead, it lost the initial two minutes, and now it's running fine.
Weird.

same deal

My clock (build date 12/03) is also slow a couple of minutes per month. It's a minor annoyance, but I actually prefer this than having it run fast. Every few weeks when someone on the radio announces the time and I note that my clock is a minute slow, I just reach up and hit the minute button and it's synched up again. Fixing a fast clock is a lot more work than that.

The overhead clock on the early models is better than the small dash clock on the later models. Easier to see and easier to adjust.

My 10/2002 build 2003 is also slow. I had it replaced under warranty very soon after I got it. The new one did and does exactly the same thing. It is a quartz clock that clearly was built with some bad engineering. A $5 Timex from Chinatown does a better job.

When the radio rings a tone at the top of the hour, I want to see the change.
Call me funny that way.

The only time I tune to the radio is for the top-of-the-hour newscasts, so I also like to be able to see the exact time.
