Hey Mini's
I have a 2007 Mini Cooper with a JCW tuning kit, 101k, manual, hardtop, pepper white and gold BBS's. Love the car its my daily and I don't beat it down I wish I could but don't have the warranty.
Anyways this pass weekend I when to a resort with my wife up in Indio, CA from Riverside, CA so it was an hour in a half drive. The heat out their was ridiculous 120F. I did check all my fluids once I left for the trip. On my way back we stopped by Cabazon, CA there is a dinosaur museum right in front of the 10 freeway. Once we left the museum I get back on the freeway than I half floor my gas and from 5th to 6th gear I didn't feel the boost I usually feel.
For a couple seconds it stayed at 3k rpms and I was only going 68mph. I down shifted than it started to pick up slow.
All of sudden on my front steering wheel gauge the little engine icon pops up and it was orange/yellow the left side of that icon was black and the other half was orange. Than I look at my screen on my dash and it says "Engine, Reduced Power" the car did feel like it was lacking power. The speed would pick up but really slow. Was it the heat that made this happened, the fuel, the distance?
I'm really upset because not to long ago did I have to change the thermostat plus hosing. Love the car but so much little problems. Any help would help Mini owners

 

So it looks like you have a CEL. Are you able to pull the code and see what it's reading?

 

No but I will go to Pepboys later on and get the code. This is so weird it has never happened. And the main CEL does not turn on

I've got a slightly different flavor of the engine malfunction light issue. It has happened 5 or 6 times. Every time it has turned on, I have been coasting down a hill. It drives like it's running on three cylinders. I can stop at any time, turn the engine off, turn it back on, and the light goes off and the car runs fine, until next time... It can accelerate hard with no problems, it's only coasting downhill.
