Power steering pump extended warranty

Don't know if this topic been discussed already I just got my letter from mini yesterday. So after everyone complaints mini USA finally gives us the extended warranty on our power steering pumps. They say they will reimburse if you paid out of pocket to get it fix. But I wonder if you didn't buy the oem brand pump from the dealer and put on a rebuilt one like I did because the dealer was way to much money, I wonder if they will pay for that? I'm pissed because I just changed mine myself last month. o well I will be on the phone first thing Tue morning. I want my money back

Even the new MINI pumps are remans, but I don't see why MINI would be expected to reimburse someone for pump they didn't actually remanufacture....?

Where did you get it from ?

I didnt buy the part from my dealer. I just showed them the order receipt and they reimbursed me. They didnt check the pump though.. my guess is they wont either just show them the receipt and see what happens.

My daughter had her power steering pump and fan replaced 2 years ago while in college. I receive the letter last week(car still in my name). She had the work done at a non mini shop in Tallahassee. They did get the parts from BMW in Jacksonville as I recall. Luckily, they had a copy of the service invoice and emailed it to me. I called the number on the letter and they suggested that I take the info to a mini dealer. So I took it to a fairly new dealership in Wesley Chapel, FL. I dealt with a good guy in service who was aware of people having this issue. He said everything looked good but he needs the key to pull up info on the car. My daughter is in Arizona(120 miles from nearest dealer) and I'm trying to figure out if its better for her just to go to Phoenix or send me the only key she has. Just wanted to pass this on to Mini owners. That $1100.00 that we spent a few years ago was a big expense for us and I would like to at least get the money from the parts back.

Why not supply him with the VIN# ? I would think that would give him all the info necessary and save some time too.
If not, I'd think the deal would still apply from all Mini dealers regardless of location. Have her check it out there first.

So what about people like me, who never got it replaced, due to the cost being so high? I have been driving with no power steering for over a year and my car just rolled 160k. It was well under 150k when it went out.

Sounds like everyones had good success getting reimbursed. Unfortunately I can't say the same about my experience. I recently replaced the power steering pump. Picked it up from Pelican and installed at a local indie shop. A month later, received the MINI letter so I called up the dealership and submitted all receipts for part and labor. 2 months later still having a hard time getting reimbursed because none of the receipts contain my VIN indicating that it was installed on my car.

Anyone else have a similar experience? They're not going to reimburse the labor of course but I would like the cost of the part covered. Maybe I should mail MINI my dead pump! :frustrated:

I'm in the same boat. Previous owners had the car from 60k and never got any letter or knew about it. Now it has 164k and I'm out of the mileage fr he warranty. :(

I sent my letter in today, but I am afraid this may be my problem. The VIN is nowhere on the invoice so I told MINI they could contact the service provider to verify the work was performed on my MINI. I'll let you know what happens .......

I haven't gotten reimbursed yet either

I sent mine in as soon as I got my letter and nothing yet after 2 months. I had the work done at an independent shop but the VIN and vehicle mileage were on the receipt so I don't see where there would be a problem. I had the work done two years ago and specifically kept everything pertaining to this repair in hopes that MINI would finally own up to the PS issue. The shop has changed names but the service manager still works there and can verify my repair. If my check doesn't miraculously come in today's mail I'll give them a call Monday to see what's up.

Newbie here, not so much with Minis. I received my Mini extended warranty reimbursement information around 6/1/13. Sent the paperwork on 6/5/13. Mini USA acknowledged receiving it 6/12/13. Was told at that time that it would take 8-10 weeks to process. Called Mini again on 7/16/13 and there were no updates on my claim. Called a week after that, no updates. Called 8/7/13 and spoke to an Erin and was told that my claim was approved and then Erin left a voice message on 8/14/13 saying that my check was "mailed" on Monday, 8/12/13. Called on 8/22/13 because had not received check - Erin did not return my call. Called 8/27/13 and random CS rep told me he had "no idea" why my check had not arrived. Called 9/4/13 (and now it's been basically THREE months since the paperwork was sent!) and spoke to a "Chuck" who said that "no, my check was not mailed on 8/12/13, but only 'approved' on that date". He randomly advised that I "wait until the end of September and see if the check arrives." Today I called and was supposedly transferred to a "Resolution Specialist" who (of course) could not give me one new piece of information. So, apparently, Mini USA is incapable of tracking when a check is issued or mailed, something I find highly unlikely on several levels. So...what I am wondering is has anyone on this thread actually received their reimbursement check and if so how long did it take? If anyone has not received their check, how long is it taking for you and if anyone has any ideas of how to get Mini to follow up with this, please post! Thank you!
