Napoleon (polie) Build Thread!

Hey NAM!

So here is my build thread, this is where all show all you guys my updates on my Mini Polie! Share all your comments!

This was the day after i got her. I instantly went to EMS and purchased a Thule Atlantis 1600 in black! it matches the roof and mirrors perfectly.

Unfortunately i ordered a stubby antenna but it was still to big, need a 1incher.

Vermont, with no know?

When i bought it, it came with two sets of rims. so these are my winters for now...

I got to tuck her away for this massive Nemo storm! which was nice. this is my friends jetta sport wagon.

and what roof rack system do you have and is it drilled into the roof?

thanks, i considered doing some interior things in gloss black, i also contacted vinylstyles to see if they could get a color close enough to match pepper white, if they can maybe do a little interior with that. I just have a basic Thule rack for the car. I found it on craigslist for dirt cheap. So no drilling! i might be getting OEM sometime

Thanks! I decided to take the hood stripes off. Super easy, just a hairdryer and some elbow grease and they came right off. It left a little residue on one of the stripes but nothing goo-gone didn't get rid of. I also had a clear protective bra on my car a took off, looks like new paint underneath!!

This was the clear bra film. it was all over the front hood and bumper...

Much Better!

I had to use some heavy buffing compound to get some of the dirt from the edges of the vinyl off. you can see in the last picture, there are still lines. But after buffing the whole hood, can't see them now.

I have a JCW grill on its way! i think for now i kinda like the nakedness. If i go back i might put two stripes closer together in the middle of the hood....

the two middle stripes would look very nice

i was thinking of doing the offset single large and smaller on the driver side in black, then continuing on the roof with a white stripe and end on the bumper

So over the past weekend i took the plunge and did the Joey mod! so much better in my opinion. I did the Facia in a Semi-gloss black and the projector shroud in a gloss black. This was with non high temp paint. Duplicolor.
Before:

then i Vinyl wrapped my headlight rings! looks like a raccoon, or eye liner...

After:

this was my work station. I used a head gun and it worked like a charm. I used this DIY thread i found on nam. scroll down to DrPhilGandini he gives a great description on a "how too"

Looks great! I have been considering doing the same thing. Any tips or would you do anything differently if you had the chance?

I did a lot of research before hand. I use to own an STI that i did this too and i used an Oven....i didnt really want to do that again. So i opted for the heat gun and im really glad i did! you can control the head very well and get a more precise area to open up from.
With the paint...I kinda with i took my time more with the projector shroud. It was hard to get the gloss to shine, unless i took the time to sand and buff. but i didn't want too. the glass to the headlight kinda hides any imperfections

I love that atlas 1600 luggage carrier.... I don't see it offered on the EMS website. Mind if I ask what you paid for it? And do you know if it was a clearance item?

Unfortunately it was a clearance item but the store in burlington, Vermont said they had a couple of them in the back (black), they had them for sale for 20% off of the MRSP price. so i paid around 400...i believe. But i really wanted to have the gloss black one to match my roof and black accents.
