How to manually level halogen headlights in 2006 R50

I hate to post this, but I swear i've looked far and wide for an answer to my problem!

I have a 2006 Mini R50 with halogen bulbs. My car doesn't seem to have self-leveling headlights, so i'm trying to figure out how to level them. I've replace both the high and low beams, and it looks like my car has a lazy eye!

So, how do you manually level the beams on this car? Thanks in advance for your help!

Also, how do I know that my low and high beams are at the right level/angle?

What can say.. You're the man (or woman)!

Any thoughts on what level to adjust the beams to? Also, does the screw for adjusting height adjust both beams on each side (ie the low AND high beam)?

Thanks again!

a very common problem in a GEN1 with the standard halogen bulbs

is that when replacing them you do not realize there is an 'orientation bump' on the rim of the mounting. If you fail to get that bump into the corresponding hole the bulb will be WAY misaligned. While, when properly seated, changing the bulbs will have NO impact on the aim . . .

how do I know? I changed bulbs in my 2002-S and their aim went into outer space ... when I looked closer and re-seated them properly all was well.

standard halogens are not self leveling .... that's required on the X's

Just FYI for those looking at this board, the two screws for each assembly are for up/down, and left/right. Each light assembly has two screws: the outer one (more towards the outside of the hood) are for left/right movement, and the inner ones (more towards center of hood) are up/down movement. For the inner screws (which for a 2006 require a standard screwdriver), turning the screw to left (or counter-clockwise) will raise the height of the beam. Turning the inner screws to the right (or clockwise) will lower the level of the beam.

Okay, so I was Inspecting my headlamps(xenon equipped 03' s model) from behind looking to check the connection and when I connected the cable back on the bulb I noticed the entire framework of the headlamp (on the inside)and the highbeam moved upward , like a pop into place kind of sound. I thought that was a weird so I tried to pull it back and it popped back to the previous lower position. I noticed the right-hand side the same thing so is this normal or are in my messing with the adjustment of the auto Leveling? I can make a YouTube video to show what is happening if that helps.
