OMG im having mini cooper withdrawal, sent a eamil a few days ago said some should get done buy Wednesday and they will call me when done. (today if you see this in the am)

its been 7 days sense i last drove my mini and i need my fix!

i have been daily the rx7 and its a blast but having a big turbo high horse power car that gets not so great mpg is not all that great. im averaging 200 miles a tank and thats 16 gallons. im sure i could do better if i did keep my foot out of the throttle so much. accelerating in that car is amazing and the turbo spooling is glorious.

I just got a MCS with 106k miles, do you think i should get the sc out and see if it's going bad?

Also, what other maintenace should i do? I'm looking to make it so i won't have something breaking in the next 2 years or so, i.e no timing belt breaking ( i know it doesn't have one, but do i need to replace a equivalent?)

I'll change oil, filter and check all filters/belts etc next weekend.. hopefully all good

if you feel comfortable to do the work than i dont see why not. if its good just fill/change the oil and put it back in. a new belt could be in order, and the only way to check the chain and or guides is to take the front cover off the engine. i have not done that yet cuz i dont want to pull off the crank pulley unless i have too. and if you have another car to drive while you do the work. to take the SC off and put it back in again should just take a day. but if you have to wait for a rebuilt one it will take a while...

i have almost 140k miles so it was time to check on it. before the winter came and i got stuck with a over heated engine in the cold and snow.

I am sure to offend someone soon here but any GM parts store has the super charger oil if your local mini does not. I had to do it with GM oil 40K ago same oil...............now with that said all ohter fluids go MINI and use Castrol Synthetic.

Oh lord! Lol.

Oh no..... If you're having MINI Cooper withdrawal while driving an RX7, then I can't imagine how horrible it will be when I have to drive my old Accord for a while.

Hoping that the new supercharger will increase your smiles per mile once you get the cooper back together.

so to keep me busy i changed the trans oil, put in the colder spark plugs, sealed up the leaking crank sensor seal, and put on a new hose clamp on the diverter valve hose because it was loose.

im still waiting for my sc. i have fresh coolant waiting to go in, and of course the 17% and belt. then button it all up and finaly go for a drive...... im dieing over here. the mazda is acting up all of a sudden to so i need my car now. so i can put the mazda away for winter before the snow and salt comes around here.

Super Cool!

I'm curious on what you decided. Did you order a new or rebuilt one?

Either way, I think it will be sweet with your new pulley too!

Wishing you a hastle free instal.

Dude. You should take it to a machine shop, have them port it some, clean it up!
Since you'll have the car half apart anyway, take in the horns for porting too!

I was just looking at the differences in general. The nose is not the same as your old one.

its the same. its just the camera angle, and the amount of oxidation the old one has that makes it look different.

so today i check some more things off the list my made some access holes in the rear so i can adjust the rear dampers. i now just have to find something that is long enough to reach the adjuster.

i also tried to take some video to day of the car getting pushed around but the sound came out bad to much wind noise. stupid gopro mic's...

just made a sweet tool to adjust the dampers in the back, and the front too! but mostly the back. i found that you cant use the original too for the front if you are using camber plates the tool is too big but stock its fine.

i used a craftsman finger screw driver and a bit extension., then poped out the insert for the koni tool and shaved down the sides to fit into the hex bit slot. and viola it works!

So you really like the Swift and Koni Yellows?

I understand it's only a slight drop with the Swift springs.

Do you encounter many driveways and the like that are too steep? Does the front valance ever rub on the tops of speed bumps?

Edit
BTW, your tool is cool. I like your suspension set up,.. Just wondering if you would recommend it to others, and if it is very streetable. For me its either that, or coil overs, I don't want it too low.

well i couldn't give a good opinion on the matter because i haven't experience other setups, but over stock springs and blown shocks. yes, they are much better. The car handles very well and feels excellent for daily driving. i just want to tune it better i feel the rear need a bit more dampening so does the front.

the fronts drop 0.7" and rear 0.5" so its not much but it does drop it enough to make it look nice and fill in the gap. wasn't interested in "dropping' the car i need to be able to drive over things. and not swerve all over the road because there's a pebble.

and the spring rates are front 280lb/in(5k/mm) and rear 308lb/in(5.5k/mm)

as for drive ways no, speed bumps arent a problem either.

these things are probably the hardest thing i have ever done on a car.

at least i am now seeing a higher boost level and it staying steady. still not seeing 17.5psi like i did when i first installed. but it may be belt slipage or the ultra gauge just being really slow to sample from the bus.
