Pull to the left, cut to the right?

Driving down the freeway, pretty level, ruts aren't too bad, if I get on it, it pulls a bit to the left, and if I then let off the gas, it cuts to the right a bit.

I have poly control arm bushings, new ball joints, had an alignment, car tracks straight, etc.

Is this normal torque steer? It's the cutting to the right that worries me a bit.

Thoughts?

The big plus of the gen1 r53 mini with the stick is negligible tourqe steer at normal hp levels due to equal length shafts....at higer hp, you can see a bit on a modded car...big question is, did it do it before, or did you just notice it?!

Agreed on that advantage, and I love it. It's possible I never noticed it before and it's been doing it all along, but I don't really recall it. I don't usually get on the gas and then let off that quickly. I'm not really worried since he tracks straight, was just wondering if anyone else ever noticed this.

How do your tires look? Try rotating the front two with each other and see if the problem flips. If it does not, then it is probably an alignment issue. Maybe you can take it back to the shop that did it if the work was recent enough.

You might also want to check your front upper strut mounts. If the car wanders under heavy braking those need to be changed and could contribute to the symptoms you're describing.

Those should be good, I believe those were swapped out when I did my IE camber plates, but worth checking as well. Braking feels pretty solid and smooth.

the GEN1, esp' with 17" wheels, was/is very susceptible to trammeling . . .

mine was terrible about this and if you search back you'll find plenty of threads about it.

not a lot I recall you can do other than change to a smaller wheel . . . altho some tire tread patterns did seem worse than others.

Capt_bj, good to know. I'm running aftermarket 17's, and my DW tires are definitely more susceptible to trammeling than any other tire, they're practically designed to run on rails, haha.

All good info, thanks everyone, love this community!
