I used an ebay vendor. I forgot the name but there is only a handful and I used the cheapest with the free return shipping.

It fits fine.

Unless your body man is your friend/family, I wouldn't believe a word he says. He is trying to sell a different part at a mark up so he can make money off of you. Or simply the hood may have been damaged during shipping.

What an amazing job, you've done !!

 

About 1/2 year follow up shots.

Washed her up real good with pressure washer and detailed the interior. Took about 3 hours just cleaning her up.

Then I cut the clear coat one more time and waxed the entire Mini for the first time. Wax does wonders.

Paint is holding up well so far! It has been sitting outdoors since I painted it.

 

I rebuilt my 2006 s. I found the hood at Certi-fit, along with the headlight assembly. It's nice when you can avoid shipping body parts. THat way you can look them over for dings.

I had to bend over at BMW for the alum bumper bar however. They did give me 20% off.

I hear you about shipping parts. They get damaged easily. I lucked out with my hood that it was not damaged.

I was looking for hood locally but sub $300 hood that including shipping and return shipping was just too good to pass.

Check ebay for parts. It is just cheaper. The dealer is the last resort and there are electrical parts that crosses over from BMW you can source from as well.

 

Not bad, who did you use for the color ?

 

I used a local vendor for the paint. I used Harborfreight gun to paint both the base and clear coat in my garage.

The color is dead on but I still blended the cowl and the qtr panels.

 

Just wanted to update yall with 1 year follow up. R50 lived through Boston winter and the paint job is holding up.

A shot after color sanding and polishing with the electric HF DA and their foams using Turtle Wax rubbing and polishing compound.

No need to pay for expensive stuff, inexpensive materials just work when you use them right.
