Help mini won't start!!!!

ALRIGHT GUYS, SO I OWN A 2003 MINI COOPER S SHE HASN'T BEEN DRIVEN FOR THE LAST 2 YRS. RECENTLY WE GOT SOME UPGRADES: MINI MADNESS STAGE 1 HEAD, BIG VALVES, SCHRICK CAM. GOT EVERYTHING INSTALLED AND MINI DIDN'T START. TALKED TO SOME FRIENDS AND ENDED UP REPLACING THE FUEL FILTER AND FUEL PUMP 2 DAYS AGO. GAVE IT ANOTHER TRY...MINI DIDN'T START. I DNT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN DO BEFORE I GO SPEND SOME BIG MONEY AT THE SHOP SO THEY CAN FIGURE IT OUT AND FIX IT. IF U GUYS HAVE ANY IDEAS, THOUGHTS OR SUGGESTIONS THEY'RE MORE THAN WELCOME.

THANX N HAPPY MOTORING!

More info. Does motor turn over with starter, fault codes/check engine light, etc. Did you drain tank and add fresh gasoline?

did drain the tank and put fresh gas in the tank car turns over with the starter but it doesnt start. i've been reading some other threads and it seems like the timing might be off. i just wanna know if there is something else that could b the problem. also if anyone knows of any good mini shops in the jacksonville area incase i have to take it to a shop so they can figure it out. or if it is in fact the timing so they can fix it.

That code is kinda important....
with no code, it is just a guess...
with a code...slightly better guess...
Beg or borrow a code reader....lots if info from that little item...
Think of it as your car talking to you...it will tell you more than you know now...which is just it no goes....

Check compression, if you haven't already. And make sure the cam timing is correct. Low compression can indicate incorrect cam timing. But if the cam is 180 degrees out in relation to the crank, you could be sparking between your exhaust and intake stroke, and still have good compression. Do you smell raw fuel? Are you getting spark at all?

Just plug a spare plug into the wire...and crank...look for spark...and you have a simple way to test for that...

My money is on the cam timing being out of sync. The pop indicates spark and fuel, just not coming together at the right time before the power stroke. In fact, I think you will find it's 180deg off.

Good luck! The codes are most likely multiple misfire codes, among possible others.

If you have never timed a motor, best to get a pro...
done wrong it is possible to destroy the valves....the pistions can actually hit them...dammaging both.
