New 2005 3 spoke steering wheel looks cool!
Our current 2 spoke wheel is nice and unique.
Well, 3 spoke looks like VW's...
There might be lots of opinions...
Guys, what do you think?

I'm also curious to know if I can change to the new wheel ???

Happy motoring!

We have both in our mc and mcs. I like the controls for the radio on the back of the wheel better and I like that you can change from cd to radio using the steering wheel controls on the two spoke. I don't think the three spoke looks like its been lifted from the VW. Yes they are both silver spoked and black but the VW is much more clunky looking. The MINI three spoke is very good looking gives a more sporty look to the car ,like it in the S best, and the horn is in the middle (BIG PLUS OVER TWO SPOKE).

I like that MINI has both wheels available it gives you yet another way to customize the car.

I ordered the 2 spoke but due to a dealer mistake it came with the 3 spoke. At first I didn't like it but it grew on me and now it's cool. You need to see it in person . I also thought it wouldn't match the interior but it really does. Be aware that it does not have the buttons behind the wheel that allows you to change modes (radio, CD, aux,etc.). That is a big mistake on MINI's part and I wish I had the 2 spoke wheel just for that function.

So yes, I like the way it looks and no, I wish it had the buttons on the back.

I am not sure I like it ... everytime I look at it, it reminds me of a Playstation joystick. A little too gimicky

Good Point!
I didn't know that the new one has no backside control.
I agree that the backside control is very useful.
But again, the design of the new 3 spoke steering looks more spartan and slendar.

Best of all worlds: two spoke w/ the entire center plate activating the horn, like old fashioned GM cars. I don't much like fumbling for the horn buttons, but I can't imagine not having the CD/radio mode button- I use it lots on longer drives. Still like the look of the two spoke better, and I really like the buttons on the back.

The only feature of the 2 spoke I like is the radio buttons on the back. Overall I prefer the 3 spoke wheel. It fits with the car much better. 3 spoke is typically a sport steering wheel in most cars. 2 spoke wheels are often found in Jeeps, F-150s, etc. I don't specifically dislike the 2 spoke but the 3 spoke is a great update IMHO.

I like the 3spoke design, but i think i'll keep my 2spoke that came
with my MCS as i like the location of all the buttons on my MFSW.

Well this a major change in opinion. If you would have asked mini owners about this wheel a year ago or when the first photos came out they would have though you had to be crazy to like it. Look at the old posts on bridger.us/mini (Motoring files.com) when he first reported the wheel and you would have found very few people liking it then. I was one of three that liked it. The majority by a landslide through mini was making a mistake. Like I said then, the three spoke is a great wheel and not a mistake by any means. I've had my mini a week and from the first day I saw the pictures to the day I picked up the car, I like that three spoke better. Even the dealer said he liked the three spoke a lot better. You have to see it in person to really judge, then listen to yourself and pick.

Exactly how I feel about the disadvantage of the 2 spoke steering wheel - the little horn buttons. I can't recall how many times I scared myself when trying to set the cruise control and ended up honking. I have to improve my palpatory skill on the MNI.

On one occasion when an 18 wheeler was encroaching my lane, I panic and forcefully punched the center of my steering wheel and of course, no horn there.

As far as the appearance, I still like the 2 spoke. I just have to remember where to push to honk and to set the cruise control.
