I've got a CR/W S coming, and was wondering what the red carbon fiber trim kit would look like. It ain't cheap, and I'd need to see it before ordering. Anyone out there have this- could you post some pics??

Is this the OEM kit from MINI? I asked about it, at first I thought it may be just like the aftermarket kits that are just pliable panels that you stick on your original dash pieces with 3M tape...they said no, these are a set of completely new panels with the carbon fibre integrated into the actual panels, not stuck on w/tape...so your dealer would remove your old trim pieces and replace it with the entirely new carbon fibre ones.

If you go for it, definitely ask for your old trim pieces back! So you can switch them if you ever want to go back to "stock" look.

Rock On,

The Moss catalogue's must be stick-ons, as they're installed w/ 3M tape. I have also thought about ordering the replacement OE red door panels, another very expensive option, but one my dealer would be glad to do (ka-ching$$!) The OE option would be a lot less subtle, that's for sure.

fms,

I've seen several MINIs with the "stick on" carbon fibre pieces and they look quite nice, not cheap looking at all...

On the other hand, the OEM Interior Carbon Fiber Trim Kit is on page 6 of the 2004 MINI Motoring Accessories Catalog. It costs $150 (not installed) but only comes in standard carbon fibre colour -- no red or blue.

The OEM CB kit is stick on as well.

Part # 51 45 0 306 045 ($150) 4 pieces total: center dash trim, far right dash panel, and 2 horizontal door handle bar inserts.

Davecsumini,

The OEM is stick on too? Then the guy at the parts dept. at my MINI dealer doesn't know what the hell he's talking about! He told me that when ya order it, it arrives as 4 new pieces of trim, carbon fibred and ready to install -- says gotta take off your old pieces and replace with these new ones. Maybe he thought I was talking about the Walnut finish trim on page 27... at $521.50 (where do they come up with these crazy figures?) it can't be stick-on...wait...with MINI anything is possible.

Rock On,

-Joe
