Today was a beautiful day to wash my MINI.

But after washing & parking in the garage for 30 min, the light for open bonnet or boot came on and stayed on during my afternoon motoring.

I had opened both after the wash and I had closed both!

I tried opening and closing them and shutting off the eng, but the light just stayed on. I drove it, parked it, and stared at it!

But the light stayed on.

Then after letting it sit for 2 hours......and starting it again.......the light is now off.

Hey, I'm sure both were closed the whole time, but I'm even happer that the light is off.

Now, I'm wondering what happened?

Anyone else had the after-wash-mystery-reason why the light is on?

Certainly sounds like some water closed the circuit in a switch and then dried out. I guess I would locate the switches and make sure they were watertight.

The water short was my idea too.

I couldn't find the bonnet switch. I think I know where the boot switch is. Neither area looked wet.

I thought about using a hair dryer on the boot to see if that would help.

But the light did go out after (it dried?) two hours.
