R50/53 Touch Up Paint
>>Have an '04 Dark Silver MINI - can you get touch up paint? Do you need to buy from dealer or can you get in auto parts store?
There is an automotive paint store in my town that can match almost any paint.
Getting the paint from the dealer will be more expensive, but unlikely to be any better.
Check out your auto paint store....

MINI OEM touch paint is of excellent quality and provides a perfect match every time. Problem is that is not available in neither of the surrounding 4 MINI dealers in my area and it appears that BMWUSA is not importing it at this time (EPA concerns with the lacquer base).
A year and a half ago I was able to grab MINI OEM Pepper White touch up paint which also comes with a bottle of clearcoat for around $16, which is not a bad deal.
Your next best option is the Autosharp.com touch up pens (Around $20 a piece) that also provide excellent paint and color match but the application method is questionnable (I am not sold on the pen method to apply touch up paint...can be messy and difficult depending on the size and location of the rock chip).
There is another site (whose address escapes me) that also provides perfect color match touch up paint for around $15 and seems to be better alternative to the Autosharp pens.
I will soon be installing Clearbras (X-Pels) on both of my MINIs to prevent future rock chips from peeling the fron end of the cars.
