Ok, so my "inspection interval" counter is up, and I'm going in tomorrow (Saturday) morning for the service. Any advice on things I should ask? I have my list of minor things to bug them with, like some rattles, etc., but I'm thinking something more substantial...

Oh, and what are they supposed to do besides changing oil?

Looks like you're on your own. I think I'd take a bunch of digital photos of my car just before I took it in for proof of the way it looked before they screwed it up.

Any progamming stuff you want changed......V 36 software if you don't already have it? I'm not sure if wiper blades are included in the warranty by if they are you might see if they need replacing. I think they replace a filter, "micro filter" I think it's called. I believe there are some "dealer bulletin" type items they should also take care of. Ask them about anything new that should be done.

Good luck.

Well, i'm sitting in the dealership now, and they have internet access set up in the waiting room, isn't that cool? They are taking a look at everything now, I have PIAA wipers, so i don't think they will replace them. Prestige MINI in NJ btw. They're pretty good..

Sounds like a nice dealership.
Do they have Starbuck's to add to the delights?

Dave,

Do they change your air filter at the 25K servicing? If that hasn't been done, I'd think that it should be. If you look in the service book that came with your MINI, it tells you all that SHOULD be done at "Inspection 1," so check it out.

Let us know what they did do. They'll give you a print-out, I believe.

Oops,

I wish I had seen this earlier. You might have wanted them to replace the PCV hose. It gets saturated in oil and turns mushy. They have a new part # but will only replace it if you ask aparently.

You might have been able to get them to replace the coolant as well. I heard a rumor that if you complain enough about the debri that is floating in it and the color, they will replace it. It will still have junk in it eventuallly and still change colors, but at least it will be fresh.

The don't ask, don't tell, world of silent recalls. Common too all brands of vehicles.

Madeline currently has 31,400 miles on the clock.

Tried to get MINI to do the second service.... they said they could not do it yet!

The service indicator says it isn't due for another 1400 miles! the first service was done at 12,300 miles. I did an oil change myself at 20,500.

Are they trying to make sure our cars don't last longer than 100K???

Ann
