Trunk molding/trim...

I know I have seen posts on here before regarding the molding/weather stripping where it transitions form the the fabric (of the convertible) to the trunk. Example photo:

Is there a thread or sticky that shows how to remove and install this? Maybe I suck at searching but I can't seem to find that. I am guessing this is pretty straight forward and will pull/pry off...but any tips or advice on how to approach it as to not hurt or damage any of the hardware holding it on would be greatly appreciated.

Recent 1st time owner of a 2011 R57 S.

Thanks !!

I'm also a recent 1st time owner of a 2011 Cooper S convertible. The same molding around mine was badly cracked as well. My mini dealership charged $350 including the new trim piece to replace. I know that doesn't answer your question, but in case you wanted to avoid the hassle of doing it yourself, that's what you're looking at. I was pretty happy with the results.

Happy motoring!

I'm also a recent 1st time buyer of a 2011 Cooper S convertible. I love it! The back molding was also badly cracked on mine. My local Mini dealer replaced it for $350 including parts. I know that doesn't answer your question, but just in case you decide it's not worth the hassle of doing it yourself, there you go.

Happy motoring!

Hello,

Very similar to the R52 Convertible removal. You have a couple screws and the center rear top brake light. You open the trunk up, put the convertible top and trunk loading mode and it exposes the trim and screws , then work them off and install new.

Here is the install kit , which is mostly new screws all around. The little pieces are adjustment for the alignment on the mounts facing forward closes to the rear side windows. Just mark and not where the old ones are.

On my 2011 R57s the rubber molding on this trim piece has failed on both side in the front. Does anyone know if I can replace just the rubber or do I need to replace this entire trim piece?

Its the whole trim/ those two pieces. The hardware is linked about if you need them,. The screw heads can rust or strip out if the convertible is a year round driver. Otherwise you should be ok.
