Runs long enough to get out of driveway then limp mode
I have a 2005 S with 87k miles. 3 times in the Texas heat, it has died, then re-started 20-30 minutes later. The last time it stayed in limp mode long enough to get home. I've checked the water, checked the cooling fan by turning the engine and AC on, in Park, and watching for the fan to come on. It does.
I can start it, and get out of my driveway halfway down the street when the Check engine light comes on and it goes into limp mode.
Trying to diagnose it. Any ideas?

Probably, although the light has been intermittently on before and Auto Zone checked but could not get a reading. There is now a squealing that is coming from the left side (passenger side) of the engine, but it goes away after I get out of the driveway. I'll try to get it to Auto Zone
Sounds very familiar to my 05 S with 86k miles that recently broke it's harmonic balancer. The pully part of the ballancer seperated from the section that bolts to the crank. It would free spin. Just something to look into, see if your belt is spinning.
Sounds like you have 2 issues....
the squeezing belt is usually a seperate issue....and another issue...
Could be anything...you needs the codes...if it goes into limp mode, the computer has determined something is seriously wrong...and has gone to safe mode/limp mode....good enough to get off the road, maybe home or a repair shop.
Could be anything from a sensor to a major mechanical issue...
Just remember if the code says "x reading out of limits on y sensor", that sensor may/magnitude be good...it could be something else broken causing the bad numbers...so don't let the auto place sell you a bag of parts without first testing the sensor first....
For most folks, go to a shop...

Sounds like you have a crank pulley coming apart. Replace it with an ATI damper so it doesn't happen again. Use a prybar on the crank pulley and see if it moves, if it does replace it ASAP.

Tried to sneak out to auto zone, but it went in to limp mode and I smelled something like burning rubber so limped back to the garage. Jacked it up, pulled the inner fender and pried on the crank pulley. The part that the belt touches slides on the part that bolts to the crank. So that sounds like a crank pulley replacement, right?
