Bad hpfp :/

This weekend I was driving down a feeder and the half power indicator came on. I swang in my local autoparts store and had them scan it reveiling a p0087 code. Driving it the past few days the light seemed to come and go and the car would run normal as long as it wasn't in limp mode. Therefore I was sceptical about what was actually wrong. Got in this morning and it was a very rough start. After fighting with itself for a bit it finally got to running good.

That said I can only assume that it's my high pressure fuel pump. Anyone have any suggestions before I start pulling parts and testing this upcoming weekend?

According to OBD II - Potential causes of a P0087 trouble code may include:

- Weak fuel pump, clogged filter or screen, restricted fuel supply line
- Faulty fuel pump driver module
- Faulty fuel pressure sensor

Here is a thread on NAM about possible symptoms. See if it may be helpful. If needed, here is a HPFP for your MINI.
