New Intercooler??

hey guys,
hey I got a Subaru WRX STI intercooler (legit) sitting in my garage, now I drive a 2005 MINI Cooper SR53 pretty much... stock

Is it possible to put that intercooler in the MINI? would there be any gains? any problems? I need help with this subject being that i'm not very familiar with the MINI yet (since I've only had it for 5 months)

thanks for all the help.

Probably not worth going through the headache of trying to get it to fit. If I recall correctly, the STi's intercooler intake side is under it and the intake manifold side is at the bottom end. You will have some serious figment issues.

Exactly right. I've owned an STi before and the fitment would not even be close. Retrofitting would be too costly. Would be better off just buying an aftermarket MINI IC if that's what you're looking for.

Yup. Sell the intercooler in NASIOC and use the money to get a GP, Alta, or M7. WRX folks often upgrade to the STi IC.

I'd get the GRS IC! Check out Intense's intercooler testing thread. The GRS has great cooling abilities. Unfortunately the GP wasn't tested and I've heard that IC is pretty nice too...

Save your money and invest in mods that you will actually see a noticeable gain with. Replacing the OEM IC is not going to give you much, if any, power gains. Look into the pulley, intake, exhaust, tune before spending money on an IC.

If you are serious about controlling the heat, GRS is the way to go with the GP a close second.
