R50/53 Locking Mechanism (red plastic) on Ignition Coil “Cable’s” Socket Housing Broke
Locking Mechanism (red plastic) on Ignition Coil “Cable’s” Socket Housing Broke
From RealOEM, this item’s locking mechanism broke when I needed to force it open as it had gotten stuck from all the years of non-use:
Part # 12527511371
My issue is: I ordered a new socket housing, but don’t know the process to take off the old socket. I do know that I have to be careful to not damage the wires that feed into the socket housing, as damaging them will require new ones to be soldered on (not my specialty). I was told that either the housing must be broken off or there is a mechanism to release it from the cable to which it is attached.
So, 1) how do I release the broken housing from the cable to which it is attached? and 2) how do I reinstall the wires into the new housing socket I’ve purchased?
I should note that I will not have a problem disengaging the old socket housing from the ignition coil, as I will be able to release it from the ignition coil by pulling on the other side of the locking mechanism (i.e., the non-cracked side).
Thanks ahead of time for your help.
Oh, yes...and, HEEEEEEEELP!

Have moved on. Not worried about that. If you do want to help with something else vastly more important to me, please see my post (should still be the last one) at:

The issue: Upon starting, car goes up to its normal ~ 900 RPM. It then plummets to ~600 RPM, with a rumbling accompanying this dynamic. Had a throttle body service today with no change. Want to swap out the PCV for a new one to see if that helps, but there are no instructions online that I can find.
Hopefully it's just an unscrew, remove old unit, install new unit, screw back up process. My car is a 2002 base MINI Cooper. Thanks!

Can't agree or disagree with you. Don't know enough about the topic. What I can tell you is that I recently changed the fuel filter, but other than that no work on the injectors or pump, etc. No engine light or codes.
Hoping the PCV valve does the trick. Is there any finesse/technique for getting off the hose and removing/installing the PCV valve?
Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I would prefer the more simple DIY stuff first, but won't hesitate to authorize a mechanic-performed task if it's reasonably priced. Situation does not affect drivability, just causes that disturbing dynamic upon start up...
Thanks! And please anyone reading this response do chime in.

Correction...
When I said this:
"The issue: Upon starting, car goes up to its normal ~ 900 RPM. It then plummets to ~600 RPM, with a rumbling accompanying this dynamic."
I meant to say this:
"The issue: Upon starting, car goes up to its normal ~ 900 RPM. It then plummets to ~600 RPM, with a rumbling from the front end accompanying this dynamic. Almost immediately thereafter, the RPMs then climb back to the normal ~ 900 RPM range."
It's actually only an isolated loss of RPMs, and brief at that. During normal driving/idling, it does not happen. However, it does bother me and I would like to address it.
Any suggestions?
