I use Royal Purple synthetic oil in my MINI and I wanted to but a RP oil filter and I cannot locate a part number? Does on exist? If not, what is everyone using.
I drive ~ 102 miles a day and I want the best filter avaliable to filter out particles ~ 25µm's. RP uses synthetic micro glass media that has a better filtration capability than OEM filters.
Does anyone use another type of filter with filtration requirements ~ 25µm?

RP doesnt have the market cornered in that arena. Mobil One filters use the same media if interested.
But with respect to our MINI's, my only concerns with some aftermarket replacement filters are their rubber O-Ring gaskets. While filters go through various stress tests to meet SAE standards ( Society of Automotive Engineers ) for pressure and filtering capabilties, the rubber O-ring gaskets in the boxes do not go through the same scruitiny and can be manufactured to varying degrees of composition, quality and performance.......
I have heard more than one horror story here of owners who have changed their oil/filter only to find that the rubber O-ring kinked up or didn't seat properly leaving a trail of oil behind their beloved MINI going down the road.
The common denominator in those cases were, aftermarket brands so I stick with MANN ( which are made in Germany ) and MINI OEM.

I use Hastings. They appear to be well made, especially compared to OEM and Fram, in particular.

I forgot about Hastings. No complaints there.
Fram = Fail. Their can type filters are the worst on the market so I steer clear.

Thanks everyone for the great feedback.
Ill check out the Hastings filters, can those be purchased at local parts outlet?
I have been using the Mann OEM filters and did use Fram one time and ended up up an o-ring issue as mentioned by -=gRay rAvEn=-.
With 155k miles on my MINI I want to extend the engine life as long as possible bu using quality oil and filters.
Thanks again

Yes, I can get them from both my local garage and auto parts store. Curiously, though, some of the counter help at the chain auto parts stores havent heard of them, which is why I go to the independently owned, non-chain type stores.Originally Posted by 05Greenie
