R50/53 Motor Evil is here! Last minute delivery advice
Good afternoon,
Hope everyone is getting ready for the bashful party tonight  To start my
excitement level off, guess what showed up today
Last minute advice for delivery (in about 1.5 weeks or so)??? I have all of the
settings to the dealer (no DRL's hate em, no follow me lights, auto-lock,
seperate door unlocking, English measurement, lights flash for lock (tho
getting the alarm installed).
Anything I should pay attention to before taking delivery? The car wasn't
powered up, but the fits and everything SEEMED in order.

My alignment was off, and the dealer is 4-5 hours away. Just to excited to notice until I got on the highway after driving through Chicago. So my alignment is still off, just the steering wheel is cocked by about 10 degrees, just annoying.
So my suggestion is to drive it down a nice straight piece of road and play the hands off still straight driving game before you drive it home.

Thanks guys for the advice, I think jsun also had the same alignment problem too
My deal with DRL's is more image, I think a driver should have full control over lighting systems. Also, I like to be able to have the car "dark" while moving (or parking lights, for example) when I come home. With headlamps on when I back my car into the garage, they shine into my negibhors bedroom
I always ensure I have the proper lighting when driving at night, bad conditions, etc.

Also check to make sure all electronics are working including sunroof and windows.
Open the bonnet and check that all fluids are good and all caps are on. Under the bonnet for the MCS scoop check that all nuts (4) are in place.
And make sure that all keys will work with your MINI.
Have fun.

>>Looks nice....why do u hate DRL's? People seem pretty passionate agianst them and I cant figure out why...thx

Me neither, I think the lower intensity high beams look good without being too bright. It's a small car and if someone see's me sooner that's fine with me. I've also noticed a lot of folks don't turn on their lights until it's too dark for them to see where there're going. Guess they don't have a clue that the intent of turning on your lights at dusk is so you can be seen, not so you can see.
I have a friend who modified the light switch on his Harley so the light would not be on in the daytime. I guess it's all part of not wanting someone to tell you what to do, even if it's a good idea.
I just read zfxr's explaination of why he doesn't like DRL's...... sounds good to me.
I guess the real problem is the irresponsibilty of those who refuse to do something as simple as turning on their lights at dusk.
Still, I like mine, on the other hand, I wish I had not had the "follow me home lights" programmed on. The 90 second delay seems like forever and I have to seak a peak to make sure the lights really went out.
Back to picking up the car......look for flaws in the finish very carefully. When I took my car back to the dealer a few weeks after delivery and asked to have a cloudy spot on the drivers side door fixed the SR, (Service Refuser), said "you should have had that done at the time of delivery"
. Is that BS or what? Of course I went around him and had it fixed but he pissed me off with his, "what can I do to not fix your car" attitude.

Ryan,
Lookin forward to a MI meet or drive  How soon do you think the next one will be?
I also realized that I need to remove that stupid airbag sticker on the passenger side, but I found that thread
When I sat in my car the dealer (actually David Green) said that the car wasn't "active" their was no power to it??? So then they rolled it off the carrier or something? I'm confused?????????
cheers, -Matt

Congratulations on the MCS, Matt! Looks like we were the last two of 2003 to get our cars.
I've only had a grand total of 275 miles of seat time in mine, but I feel fully confident in saying that you're going to love every minute behind the wheel.

and I have 1991 miles and it seemed like only yesterday we were joined 11/10.
I had troubles so make sure the car starts up etc. Mine was delivered with the wrong ECU so it didnt run. but as you can see once the right ecu was installed away we went.
you are gonna be loving life!!
