You don't need a dealership to start your own MINI group.
Just set up a place to meet and start inviting every MINI you see to attend.
Make up flyers and/or business cards with your meeting location, place and
time and next thing you know you have your very own club/group.

 

A lady I know practically stood up to wave at me from her pumpkin colored Mini Cabrio . I was going down hill in my E/B Mini into Pacifica and she was going up the grade on DEVILS SLIDE. I WAVED back, but Geez this is DEVILS SLIDE, please next time don't do it so enthusiastically, I'll wave back!

 

I used to always wave. When I lived in Colorado it seemed like 99% waved back. Now I live near Santa Cruz and these people might as well be driving a Prius...they look at me like I'm NUTS! Hey, when I'm riding my motorcycle through the mountains and I see a Mini I give them a Peace sign...they probably think I'm nuts too!

 

I wave but am finding that fewer and fewer wave back!

 

Just an update. I drive on Memoral/San Felipe going home everyday and see AT LEAST 5 mini's.... none of them wave... everyday I am getting more and more isolated... WAVE PEOPLE

 

I had no idea I was supposed to wave.

I will wave from now on!!! :P

It's funny, but the first thing I noticed was other MINI drivers waving at me. I haven't even had the car 24 hrs !

 

Ok, this is weird. I didnt not use any red in my last post and it did it automatically? anyway, I digress.

I waved at my first mini driver, he waved back. I thought I would feel like a dork alas I did not. My last car was an Audi A4, no one ever waved at me ever:P

 

Yup. I still wave or flash my head lights. It's fun!

 

Man, I should have known this topic would be out here. I am kinda new to MINI. When I had a Mini, EVERYONE waved or smiled. Of course I am 6'3 and was driving a classic Countryman so it was almost impossible to not be noticed and smiled, waved or laughed at. All fine by me. HOWEVER, Now I am a VERY PROUD MINI owner and I try to make MINI contact with other owners, but to no avail. I do live in Los Angeles......the realist place on Earth, so I am not really surprised. Someone please wave or flash beams or something sometime! A nod, a beep, a "Heya" anything to redeem my faith in Mini/MINI enthusism.

OK so case in point now. JUST this morning I another MCS riding along the 101 freeway with me..... NUTIN'!! Thanks for my wave....

 

I flashed my xenons yesterday and was rewarded with a wonderful wave and a heck of a smile from a every good-lookin' woman.. See life iisss gooood!

 

Still wave, but when I explained to my girlfriend (she's considering buying a Mini) that if she joined the ranks, she'd have to wave, she just looked at me blankly and asked "Why?"

What's not to get?

 

When I got my MINI in July, I was thrilled when I got a wave (being used to the Jeep wave with my Wrangler). Now that I truly love my Cooper S, though, my feelings are actually hurt when someone doesn't wave back!

 

Last Thursday after picking up our Hilla got my very first wave by a topless MINI! Yesterday on my way to HMMS (Houston MINI Motoring Society) meeting, waved at a MINI and got a wave back! Also had several no waves, but every one you get, you just cheer up a little bit more.

 

I wave--a lot! I almost waved at a MCS yesterday when I was in my truck because I liked the car! Didn't because the driver might have thought I was odd--I need a get license plate frame that says my other car is a Mini. The truck is about four times bigger than the Mini.

 

I'm working on some of the graphics designers to make a stickcer for my truck that says "This is my MINI Support Vehicle - WAVE AT ME!"

 

Waved and flashed (with headlights ) at TWO Minis today...one MCS and one MC. Nothing back. I think these people just wanted a cute car. I did get the nod from a guy in a nice MCS the other day as we passed.....like two gangsters watching the others move. Then the grin. That was close so it will have to do.

I got my first really enthusiastic wave from a silver MCS driven by a silver haired man. He gave me the peace sign and I waved back. Made my day.

Yes!! Still crazy after all these years...

 

Until yesterday, I hadn't received any acknowledgment from other MINI drivers. They are always looking off in other directions! Then yesterday, while heading home from work, a guy in a yellow MINI Cooper S waved at me as I crossed over the intersection. I was so stunned that all I did was nod. I would have waved, but I was preparing for a turn. Very cool.
